Drazit-500mg Injection is used to treat infections caused by bacteria, such as pneumonia (lung infection) and infections of the reproductive organs. It is prescribed for treating severe infections when oral therapy is ineffective. A bacterial infection is a condition in which bacteria grow in the body and cause an infection. 

Drazit-500mg Injection contains azithromycin, which slows the growth or sometimes kills the harmful bacteria by preventing the production of proteins required by the bacteria for its survival. Drazit-500mg Injection does not treat a viral infection like the flu or a common cold.

Not everyone who receives Drazit-500mg Injection will experience these side effects. You may experience pain, itching, swelling or redness at the site of injection, stomach cramps, nausea, diarrhoea, wind, dizziness, headache, and indigestion. Do not take antacids that contain aluminium or magnesium hydroxide within 2 hours of taking Drazit-500mg Injection. Antacids can interact with Drazit-500mg Injection and make it less effective when taken simultaneously.

Drazit-500mg Injection can cause Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD). If you have diarrhoea that is watery or bloody, call your doctor. Do not use anti-diarrhoea medicine unless your doctor tells you to.

You should avoid taking Drazit-500mg Injection if you have colitis (intestine inflammation), heart rhythm disorder, liver disease (like jaundice), and muscle problems (like myasthenia gravis). Contact your doctor if you have these conditions before taking Drazit-500mg Injection.
