About Dysport 500 Injection
Dysport 500 Injection belongs to a group of medicines called muscle relaxants used to treat upper limb spasticity, lower limb spasticity, spasmodic torticollis (neck muscle contraction), blepharospasm (abnormal contraction of the eyelid muscles), hemifacial spasm (contractions or spasms of the muscles on one side of the face), moderate to severe glabellar lines (worry lines), and moderate to severe lateral canthal line (crow's feet or laugh lines).
Dysport 500 Injection contains Clostridium botulinum type A toxin haemagglutinin complex, which acts on the junctions between the nerves and muscles, preventing the release of acetylcholine (a chemical messenger) from the nerve endings that would normally cause the muscle to contract. Thereby, it helps reduce abnormal muscle contractions.
In some cases, Dysport 500 Injection may cause injection site reactions, headache, tiredness, generalised weakness, and flu-like symptoms. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to the doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.
Let the doctor know if you are allergic to any of the components in Dysport 500 Injection. Dysport 500 Injection should not be used during pregnancy or lactation. Dysport 500 Injection may cause muscle weakness or visual disturbances; therefore, drive only if you are alert. Inform the doctor about your health condition and medications to rule out any side effects/interactions.
