About Ecmeen 50mg Tablet

Ecmeen 50mg Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, intestinal infections, respiratory infections, sexually transmitted infections, and skin infections. Besides this, Ecmeen 50mg Tablet also treats acne-like lesions caused by rosacea.

Ecmeen 50mg Tablet contains Minocycline, which inhibits the protein synthesis required for the growth of the bacterial cell. As a result, bacterial cells are not able to reproduce and grow.

You may experience headache, photosensitivity, dizziness, vomiting, itching, nausea, and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects of Ecmeen 50mg Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Before using Ecmeen 50mg Tablet, tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergy to Ecmeen 50mg Tablet, have kidney problems, liver problems, or asthma. Use of Ecmeen 50mg Tablet in pregnant and nursing mothers is not recommended.

What if I have taken an overdose of Ecmeen 50mg Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Ecmeen 50mg Tablet as it may cause overdose. The symptoms of overdose include nausea, dizziness or vomiting. If you suspect you have taken overdose or notice signs of overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

  • Avoid taking too much calcium, iron-enriched foods, and drinks, as it might affect the working of Ecmeen 50mg Tablet. 
  • Avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with Ecmeen 50mg Tablet as it can make you dehydrated and affect your sleep. This can make it harder for your body to aid the Ecmeen 50mg Tablet in fighting off infections.
  • Probiotics should be taken after taking the full course of Ecmeen 50mg Tablet in order to restore some of the healthy bacteria in the intestines that may have been killed. Taking probiotics after antibiotic treatment can reduce the risk of antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Certain fermented foods like yoghurt, cheese, sauerkraut, kombucha, and kimchi can help restore the good bacteria of the intestine.

  • Iron and antacids (like magnesium hydroxide and aluminium hydroxide) may bind to Ecmeen 50mg Tablet in the gastrointestinal tract, lowering its efficiency. So, a gap of at least 2 hours should be maintained between the intake of Ecmeen 50mg Tablet and iron supplements and antacids.
  • Prolonged use of Ecmeen 50mg Tablet during tooth development (pregnancy, infancy, and childhood to the age of 8 years) may cause permanent discolouration of the teeth (yellow-grey-brown).
  • Do not consume alcohol as it may cause excessive drowsiness when taken along with Ecmeen 50mg Tablet.
  • Before using Ecmeen 50mg Tablet, tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergy to Ecmeen 50mg Tablet, have kidney problems, liver problems, or asthma.
  • Use efficient birth control to prevent pregnancy while you are using Ecmeen 50mg Tablet.
  • The use of Ecmeen 50mg Tablet causes antibiotic-associated diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if you have diarrhoea while taking Ecmeen 50mg Tablet.
  • Ecmeen 50mg Tablet may cause sensitive skin to sunlight and ultraviolet rays, causing exaggerated sunburn reactions. Hence, it is advisable to apply sunscreen before going outside.
