Ecmeen 50mg Tablet is used to treat bacterial infections such as urinary tract infections, intestinal infections, respiratory infections, sexually transmitted infections, and skin infections. Besides this, Ecmeen 50mg Tablet also treats acne-like lesions caused by rosacea.
Ecmeen 50mg Tablet contains Minocycline, which inhibits the protein synthesis required for the growth of the bacterial cell. As a result, bacterial cells are not able to reproduce and grow.
You may experience headache, photosensitivity, dizziness, vomiting, itching, nausea, and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects of Ecmeen 50mg Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
Before using Ecmeen 50mg Tablet, tell your doctor if you have ever had an allergy to Ecmeen 50mg Tablet, have kidney problems, liver problems, or asthma. Use of Ecmeen 50mg Tablet in pregnant and nursing mothers is not recommended.

Ecmeen 50mg Tablet is a Pregnancy Category D. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies on the use of Minocycline in pregnant women. In some cases, taking Ecmeen 50mg Tablet during pregnancy may affect tooth and bone development in the unborn baby. So, if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy, contact the doctor before using Ecmeen 50mg Tablet.
Unsafe
Ecmeen 50mg Tablet can pass into breast milk and may affect bone and tooth development in a nursing infant. The extent of absorption is unknown. Do not breastfeed while you are taking this medicine.

Drive with caution, Ecmeen 50mg Tablet usually causes blurry vision, dizziness and may affect driving ability.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Ecmeen 50mg Tablet may interact with medicines used for infections (phenoxymethylpenicillin), medicines for acne (isotretinoin), medicines for heart disease (quinapril), medicines for migraine (ergotamine), medicines for inducing labour pain (ergometrine), diuretics/ water tablets (furosemide), medicines for diarrhoea (kaolin), antacids (like aluminium, calcium, or magnesium, bismuth subsalicylate), iron supplements.
Drug-Food Interaction: Food containing calcium and iron should be avoided as it may affect the effectiveness of the drug. Also, avoid consuming grapefruit or grapefruit juice with Ecmeen 50mg Tablet.
Drug-Disease Interaction: Ecmeen 50mg Tablet should not be given to people with colitis (inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract), liver, or kidney disease.
