About ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S

ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S belongs to a group of gastrointestinal agents used to treat acidity, heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia (indigestion), epigastric pain, peptic ulcers, and eradication of helicobacter pylori infection. ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S is a sustained release formulation that prolongs drug release for a longer duration of time. 

ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S is a combination of two drugs: Esomeprazole (proton pump inhibitor) and Domperidone (a dopamine antagonist). Esomeprazole works by blocking an enzyme called gastric proton pump, which is responsible for the production of acid Domperidone works by increasing the movements and contractions of stomach muscle. Together, ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S helps in treating acidity related problems.

Take ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S 1hour prior to food. Swallow ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or break the tablet. You are advised to take ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as dry mouth, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache, and flatulence. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Inform your doctor before taking ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S if you have severe kidney or liver disease; if you are due to have Chromogranin A blood test; if you have fungal infections, heart problems or HIV infection. Talk to your doctor before taking ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S if you have osteoporosis: ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S may increase the risk of bone fractures on long term treatment. Consult your doctor before taking ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S should not be given to children as safety have not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol and ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S as it could lead to increased drowsiness and elevate stomach acid production. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side-effects.

Directions for Use

Take ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S 1hour prior to food. Swallow ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or crush the tablet. Depending on your medical condition, your doctor will decide how long you need to take ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S.

Drug Warning

Do not take ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S if you are allergic to any of its contents or other proton pump inhibitors (such as pantoprazole, rabeprazole, lansoprazole or omeprazole); if you are taking nelfinavir (used to treat HIV); if you have prolactinoma (tumour of the pituitary gland), blockage in intestines, bleeding in stomach or intestine, moderate to severe liver disease, low level of potassium or magnesium or high levels of magnesium, and heart problems. Inform your doctor before taking ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S if you have severe kidney, heart or liver disease, or if you are due to have Chromogranin A blood test; if you have fungal infections, heart problems or HIV infection. Talk to your doctor if you experience weight loss, problems with swallowing, stomach pain, indigestion, vomit food or blood, or if you pass black stools while taking ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S. On long-term treatment, ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S may cause low magnesium levels, vitamin B12 levels, and increase the risk of bone fractures; the doctor may advise regular tests for monitoring your condition. Do not take ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S should not be given to children as safety have not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S as it could lead to increased drowsiness and can elevate the production of stomach acid. A prolonged intake of ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S is linked with a greater risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea, so if you develop diarrhoea that does not improve, immediately consult a doctor.

  • Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increases acidity and heartburn.

  • Pregnancy

ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S is a combination of two drugs, namely: Esomeprazole and Domperidone. Domperidone works by increasing the movements and contractions of stomach muscle. Together, ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S helps in treating acidity.

Diarrhoea might be a side-effect of ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S. Drink enough fluids and eat fibre rich food if you experience diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if you experience excessive diarrhoea or if you find blood in stools.

Avoid lying down immediately after meals to prevent acid reflux. Raise the head of the bed 10-20cm by putting a pillow so that the head and chest are above the waist. This helps in preventing acid reflux.

Dry mouth could be a side-effect of ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S. Limiting caffeine intake, avoiding smoking and mouthwashes containing alcohol, drinking water regularly, and chewing sugar-free gum/candy might help in stimulating saliva and thereby prevents drying of the mouth.

ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S contains domperidone which helps in treating nausea and vomiting by increasing the movements and contractions of stomach muscle.

Do not take ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S for longer durations unless prescribed by the doctor. Consult your doctor if your condition does not improve even after taking ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S for 14days.

ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S should not be taken along with HIV medicines such as atazanavir, ritonavir, nelfinavir, and saquinavir as ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S might affect their absorption. Consult your doctor before taking ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S with other medicines to avoid unpleasant side-effects.

On long term treatment, ESOMIX D CAPSULE 10'S might increase the risk of bone fracture in the spine, wrist or hip. Inform your doctor if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking corticosteroids as they can increase the risk of bone fractures.
