Gentacort-D Eye/Ear Drops 10 ml is used in the treatment of Bacterial eye and ear infections. The detailed uses of Gentacort-D Eye/Ear Drops 10 ml are as follows:

• Treat bacterial infections of the eye and ear: Gentacort-D Eye/Ear Drops 10 ml combines gentamicin, an antibiotic that kills infection-causing bacteria, and betamethasone, a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, redness, and swelling in the affected area.
• Relieve symptoms of conjunctivitis and otitis externa: Gentacort-D Eye/Ear Drops 10 ml is effective in managing conditions like pink eye and outer ear infections by targeting both the infection and the associated discomfort.
• Ease itching, irritation, and pain: Gentacort-D Eye/Ear Drops 10 ml helps soothe symptoms such as burning, stinging, and itching caused by bacterial infections in the eye or ear.

Gentacort-D Eye/Ear Drops 10 ml consists of Gentamicin and dexamethasone. Gentamicin has bactericidal activity and functions by inhibiting the synthesis of key proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Dexamethasone is a steroid that lowers inflammation and infection-related symptoms such as redness and irritation by blocking the substances that induce inflammation, such as prostaglandins. As a result, Gentacort-D Eye/Ear Drops 10 ml aids in treating eye/ear infections.

• Follow your doctor’s instructions regarding the dosage and duration.
• For eye use: Wash your hands, tilt your head back, pull down your lower eyelid, and instil the prescribed number of drops into the eye.
• For ear use: Lie on your side or tilt your head so the ear faces up and instill the prescribed number of drops into the ear.
• Do not touch the tip of the dropper to avoid contamination.

Ear infection:

• Consult an ENT regularly to ensure early detection of any ear problems.
• Avoid consuming foods you are allergic to, as it can cause the body to produce excess mucus, resulting in ear inflammation.
• Avoid getting shampoo, soap, or water into your ears, as this can cause itching.

Do not use Gentacort-D Eye/Ear Drops 10 ml if you are allergic to any of its components, corticosteroids, or aminoglycosides. Before using Gentacort-D Eye/Ear Drops 10 ml, inform your doctor if you have vision problems, active ocular tuberculosis, severe eye pain, glaucoma (high blood pressure), eye damage, eye surgery, hearing problems (cytotoxicity), a perforated eardrum, chronic otitis media, or viral ear infections (herpes simplex otitis externa and herpes zoster otitis external).
