Gnorm Capsule 6's

Gnorm Capsule 6's belongs to the group of medicines called probiotics used to treat and prevent diarrhoea, including rotaviral diarrhoea in children. Gnorm Capsule 6's may also be used for acne, antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea, Helicobacter pylori infection, traveller’s diarrhoea, diarrhoea in people with HIV/AIDS, and necrotising enterocolitis (a serious intestinal disease in premature infants).
 
Gnorm Capsule 6's contains ‘Saccharomyces boulardii’, a friendly micro-organism that helps fight disease-causing organisms in the gut, such as yeast and bacteria. Thereby, Gnorm Capsule 6's helps in treating diarrhoea. Gnorm Capsule 6's helps restore the balance of intestinal bacterial flora and strengthens immunity and overall gut health.
 
You are advised to take Gnorm Capsule 6's for as long as your doctor has recommended it for you, depending on your medical condition. Gnorm Capsule 6's is generally safe and does not cause any side effects. Sometimes, it may cause gas, bloating, and constipation. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. Talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
 
Let your doctor know if you are taking any other medicines or herbal products before starting Gnorm Capsule 6's. If you are known to be allergic to any of the components in Gnorm Capsule 6's, please inform your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking Gnorm Capsule 6's if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Gnorm Capsule 6's can be given to children if recommended by a doctor. Avoid or limit alcohol consumption while taking Gnorm Capsule 6's.

Do not take Gnorm Capsule 6's if you are allergic to any of its components. Inform your doctor if you have a weakened immune system, yeast allergy or if you are taking antifungal medicines. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Gnorm Capsule 6's can be given to children if advised by a doctor.

Drug-Drug Interactions: Gnorm Capsule 6's may interact with anti-fungal medicines (fluconazole, caspofungin, itraconazole, amphotericin).

Drug-Disease Interactions: Inform your doctor if you have a weakened immune system or yeast allergy.

• Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.

• Include bland foods such as bananas, rice, apples, cream of wheat, soda crackers, farina, applesauce, and toast to avoid aggravating the digestive system.

• Avoid eating foods such as milk, dairy products, spicy foods, processed foods, pork, veal, sardines, raw vegetables, rhubarb, onions, corn, citrus fruits, alcohol, pineapples, cherries, seeded berries, grapes, caffeinated and carbonated drinks. 

• Eat fibre-rich food such as whole grains, lentils, beans, broccoli, and peas.

• Wash your hands thoroughly before eating while preparing or serving food.

Diarrhoea: Diarrhoea is the condition in which there is a frequent need to empty the bowels. It is characterised by loose and watery stools. Diarrhoea could be acute or chronic. Acute diarrhoea generally lasts for a few days. It could occur due to bacterial infection or food poisoning. Chronic diarrhoea lasts for at least four weeks. It could occur due to intestinal disease/disorder such as Crohn’s disease or celiac disease. The causes of diarrhoea include food intolerance, food allergy, adverse reaction to any medicine, viral infection, bacterial infection, intestinal disease, parasitic infection, and stomach or gallbladder surgery. The symptoms of diarrhoea include nausea, abdominal pain, cramps, dehydration, and bloating, frequent urge to empty the bowels, a large volume of stools or watery stools.
