Graniforce Syrup belongs to the class of ‘anti-emetic’ drugs, primarily used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by medical treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation treatment for cancer in children. Nausea is defined as stomach discomfort and the sensation of an urge to vomit. Vomiting is the forcible, voluntary, or involuntary emptying of the contents of the stomach through the mouth.

Graniforce Syrup contains an anti-emetic (eases vomiting symptoms) medicine, 'Granisetron', that belongs to the class of serotonin receptor antagonists or serotonin blockers. It works by blocking the activity of serotonin (chemical messenger) in the brain that triggers nausea and vomiting during cancer treatment (chemotherapy or radiation therapy) or after surgery.

Your paediatrician will decide the dose and duration based on the severity of your child's medical condition. Common side effects of Graniforce Syrup include diarrhoea, constipation, stomach pain, weakness, headache, fever, dizziness, drowsiness, trouble sleeping, and anxiety. These side effects are not familiar to everyone and vary from person to person. If you notice any bothersome or unmanageable side effects, please consult your doctor.

Let your doctor know if your child has any liver, kidney, or heart diseases, stomach/intestinal problems, allergic reactions, or low levels of potassium and magnesium in the blood before starting Graniforce Syrup. This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women.

• Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (CINV):Given before and sometimes after chemotherapy to prevent severe nausea and vomiting. Often used in combination with other antiemetics for a more effective result.
• Radiation-Induced Nausea and Vomiting (RINV):Prevents nausea associated with radiation therapy, especially to the abdomen or whole body.
• Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV):Used to prevent or treat nausea and vomiting after surgery under general anesthesia.

• Graniforce Syrup can be given with or without food, or as the doctor advises.
• Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
• Measure the prescribed dose using a measuring cup to get an accurate dose and administer it orally.
• Avoid using regular household spoons, as they may not measure the dose correctly. Shake well before use.

This serotonin binds to serotonin receptors on nerves that induce nausea and vomiting. Graniforce Syrup works by blocking the activity of serotonin in the brain and preventing postoperative nausea and vomiting.

Graniforce Syrup is intended for paediatric use only. It is suggested to seek medical advice if you are using any prescription or non-prescription medicines. Inform your doctor if your child have a history of stomach/intestinal problems like stomachache, wind, feeling or being sick, and difficulty passing stools; heart problems, electrolyte imbalance (potassium, sodium or calcium), and liver or kidney diseases before starting Graniforce Syrup. Graniforce Syrup is not recommended in children below two years of age. This medicine is also not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
