About Lactifiber Granules
Lactifiber Granules is a laxative that is used to treat constipation. Constipation refers to infrequent bowel movements in which the stools are often dry, painful, and hard to pass.
Lactifiber Granules is a combination of Ispaghula husk and Lactitol. Ispaghula husk is a bulk-forming laxative that increases the amount of water in the stool, making the stool softer and easier to pass. Lactitol causes an increase in water content in stools, and stool volume, thereby making the stool softer and easier to pass and relieving constipation.

Lactifiber Granules belongs to the group of medicines called laxatives used to treat constipation.
Lactifiber Granules contains Ispaghula and Lactitol. Ispaghula works by absorbing water and makes the stool soft and bulky and easier to pass. Lactitol works by breaking down into low-molecular-weight organic acids in the colon, which increases the osmotic pressure. This causes an increase in water content in stools, and stool volume, thereby makes the stool softer and easier to pass and provides relief from constipation.
Diarrhoea might occur if Lactifiber Granules is taken in larger doses. Drink lots of fluids and eat fibre-rich food if you experience diarrhoea. If you find blood in your stools (tarry stools) or if you experience excess diarrhoea, consult your doctor. Do not take anti-diarrheal medicine on your own.
Do not take Lactifiber Granules for more than a week as it might lead to dependency on Lactifiber Granules for a bowel movement. Taking Lactifiber Granules for longer durations might also cause dehydration imbalance of fluids and salts in the body which can affect the tightness of muscles in the intestine. If your bowel movement is irregular even after taking Lactifiber Granules for a week, consult your doctor.
Take Lactifiber Granules as advised by your doctor. Add 3 dry teaspoonful of granules to a glass of water. Stir briskly and consume immediately. Follow it up with a glass of water.
Lactifiber Granules is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to any of its ingredients. Also, it should be avoided in patients with intestinal obstruction or chronic constipation.
Store Lactifiber Granules at room temperature protected from moisture. Close the lid tightly after use. Keep it out of reach of children.
The side effects of Lactifiber Granules include bloating, flatulence (gas) and stomach cramps. If these side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
