Luliford-S Cream 15 gm is used to treat fungal skin infections, including ringworm, jock itch, and athlete’s foot. It contains two medications: Luliconazole and salicylic acid. Luliconazole has a broad spectrum of antifungal activity. The enzyme lanosterol demethylase is thought to be inhibited by Luliconazole. Lanosterol demethylase is required to synthesise ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent that removes dead skin cells and softens skin by breaking down the protein keratin (a part of the skin structure). As a result, they kill the fungi and clears the infection.

About Luliford-S Cream 15 gm

Luliford-S Cream 15 gm is a topical medication prescribed to treat various fungal skin infections, such as athlete's foot, ringworm, and jock itch, particularly when accompanied by dry, scaly skin. It combines two active properties that work together to clear the infection and restore the natural texture of your skin. This medicine is designed to target the fungus directly at the site of infection while managing the rough skin layers that often build up over the affected area.

To achieve the best results, you must apply Luliford-S Cream 15 gm consistently and exactly as directed by your healthcare provider. Typically, it is applied once or twice daily to clean, dry skin. Along with using this cream, keeping the affected area dry, avoiding tight-fitting clothing, and practising good personal hygiene will help speed up your recovery and prevent the infection from returning.

Most people tolerate this topical treatment well, but some may experience mild, temporary local side effects like a slight burning sensation, redness, or peeling skin. If you develop severe skin irritation, deep painful cracks, or signs of an allergic reaction, stop applying it and consult your doctor immediately.

Do not use this medicine if you have a known allergy to any of its components or other topical antifungal treatments. Before starting, talk to your doctor if you have very sensitive skin, open wounds, deep cuts, or other skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis in the treatment area.

Because Luliford-S Cream 15 gm is applied to the skin, it is unlikely to interact with oral medicines or alcohol, but you should still avoid applying other medicated creams or ointments to the same area unless advised by your healthcare provider. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine to ensure it is safe for your situation.

Uses of Luliford-S Cream 15 gm

Your doctor may prescribe Luliford-S Cream 15 gm to help manage the following conditions:

  • Fungal skin infections with scaling: Treats infections like athlete's foot, ringworm, and jock itch, especially when the skin has become thick, dry, or scaly.
  • Eczematous fungal infections: Manages fungal skin conditions that are accompanied by rough, scaly patches, helping to soften and clear the affected skin layers.

Key Benefits

Luliford-S Cream 15 gm combines antifungal treatment with removal of excess thick, scaly skin. This can be useful when a susceptible fungal infection occurs in an area with significant scaling or thickening.

  • Helps clear the fungal infection: Luliconazole acts against susceptible fungi responsible for common superficial fungal infections. As the infection responds to treatment, symptoms such as itching, redness, and discomfort may gradually improve.
  • Reduces thick, scaly skin: Salicylic acid loosens and removes excess dead skin cells, helping soften rough or thickened areas affected by the skin condition.
  • Supports recovery of the affected skin: Treating the fungus while reducing excess scaling can help the affected skin gradually return towards its normal texture and appearance.

Directions for Use

  • Follow your doctor’s instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication to ensure safety.
  • Take a small amount of Luliford-S Cream 15 gm on the fingertip and apply it as a thin layer on the clean and dry affected area as advised by your doctor.
  • Wash your hands before and after using Luliford-S Cream 15 gm if your hands are not the affected area to prevent the spread of infection.

How Luliford-S Cream 15 gm Works

Luliford-S Cream 15 gm contains luliconazole and salicylic acid. The two ingredients work differently to treat susceptible fungal infections and reduce associated thick or scaly skin. Luliconazole is an antifungal medicine. It interferes with the production of ergosterol, an important component of the fungal cell membrane. This disrupts the normal structure and function of the membrane, which stops susceptible fungi from growing and helps clear the infection. Salicylic acid is a keratolytic agent (a medicine that helps loosen and remove excess dead skin). It reduces the buildup of thick, rough, or scaly skin by helping dead cells on the outer surface separate and shed. Together, luliconazole treats the fungal infection while salicylic acid reduces excess scaling and thickened skin in the affected area.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Keep the affected area dry: Wash the skin gently and dry it thoroughly, especially after bathing, exercise, or sweating. Warm, moist conditions can encourage fungal growth.
  • Wear breathable clothing: Choose loose-fitting clothing and breathable footwear where appropriate. This can reduce sweating, moisture buildup, and friction around the affected skin.
  • Change clothing after sweating: Replace damp socks, underwear, or clothing promptly and use clean items each day while the infection is being treated.
  • Avoid sharing personal items: Do not share towels, clothing, footwear, or other items that have been in contact with the affected skin, as fungal infections can spread through contaminated items.
  • Prevent spread to other areas: Use a separate clean towel for the affected skin and wash your hands after touching the area. Avoid scratching, as this can irritate the skin and may spread the infection.

Storage

Drug Warnings

  • Use only on the skin: Luliford-S Cream 15 gm is intended for external use. Avoid the eyes, mouth, inside the nose, genital mucosa, and other sensitive areas. If accidental contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Avoid open or damaged skin: Do not apply Luliford-S Cream 15 gm to open wounds, cuts, or extensively broken or inflamed skin unless specifically advised by your doctor. Salicylic acid can be absorbed more readily through damaged skin and may cause additional irritation.
  • Use only the prescribed amount: Apply a thin layer as directed. Using excessive amounts, treating large areas, or applying the medicine more frequently than recommended can increase skin irritation and absorption of salicylic acid.
  • Avoid covering the treated skin: Do not use airtight dressings or bandages over the application area unless advised by your doctor, as covering the skin can increase absorption of salicylic acid.
  • Check other topical products: Using other medicated creams, exfoliants, or irritating skin products on the same area may increase dryness, peeling, or irritation. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before combining topical treatments.
  • Continue for the recommended duration: Improvement in itching or redness does not always mean the fungal infection has completely cleared. Use Luliford-S Cream 15 gm for the prescribed treatment period rather than stopping early or extending treatment on your own.
  • Watch for significant irritation: Mild application-site irritation can occur. Consult your doctor if you develop persistent burning, marked redness, swelling, blistering, excessive peeling, or another worsening skin reaction.
  • Have persistent symptoms reviewed: If the infection spreads, worsens, or does not improve within the expected treatment period, your doctor can reassess the diagnosis and treatment rather than increasing the amount or frequency of Luliford-S Cream 15 gm.
