About Metrodif-MPS Tablet
Metrodif-MPS Tablet is a combination medicine used to treat diarrhoea caused by parasitic infections of the intestines, including amoebiasis (amoebic dysentery) and giardiasis. It also provides relief from excess gas in the gut (digestive tract), bloating, stomach pain, and cramps caused by these conditions. Diarrhoea is a condition in which there is a frequent need to empty the bowels. It is characterised by loose and watery stools.
Metrodif-MPS Tablet contains three medications: Diloxanide furoate (an amoebicide), Tinidazole (an antiprotozoal), and Simethicone (an anti-foaming agent). Diloxanide furoate works by killing the parasites in the intestine. Tinidazole damages the DNA of parasites, stopping their growth and reproduction. Simethicone breaks down gas bubbles in the gut, reducing their surface tension and making it easier for gas to be released through flatus or belching (burping). It also helps prevent the accumulation and formation of gas in the digestive tract. Together, Metrodif-MPS Tablet helps treat diarrhoea by clearing the infection in the intestines.
You are advised to take Metrodif-MPS Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it, based on your medical condition. In some cases, Metrodif-MPS Tablet may cause common side effects, such as nausea, vomiting, tiredness, dizziness, headache, loss of appetite, stomach cramps, constipation, and flatulence. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Consult your doctor before taking Metrodif-MPS Tablet if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
