Omegyn-DSR Capsule is used to treat gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and stomach ulcers. About Omegyn-DSR Capsule

Omegyn-DSR Capsule belongs to the class of drugs known as Proton pump inhibitors, which reduce the amount of acid your stomach produces. It treats gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), stomach ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (overproduction of acid due to a pancreatic tumour), duodenal ulcers, gastric ulcers, and Crohn’s disease-associated ulcers.

Omegyn-DSR Capsule is a combination of Esomeprazole and Domperidone that helps reduce stomach acid by blocking the action of an enzyme (H+/K+ ATPase, also known as the gastric proton pump), thus preventing the release of stomach acid and relieving symptoms of food pipe lining inflammation (esophagitis), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or heartburn.

Not everyone who is taking Omegyn-DSR Capsule will get these side effects. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as dry mouth, stomach pain, diarrhoea, headache, and flatulence. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve over time. However, if you experience these side effects persistently, talk to your doctor.

Take Omegyn-DSR Capsule as advised. Your physician will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. You should take Omegyn-DSR Capsule 30 minutes before food. It is recommended not to exceed the recommended dose of Omegyn-DSR Capsule . Do not chew, crush, or break the medicine.

  • Gastric reflux disease (GERD): By lowering stomach acid, Omegyn-DSR Capsule helps control GERD symptoms such as acid reflux, regurgitation, and heartburn.<br/>
  • Ulcer Treatment: Omegyn-DSR Capsule promotes healing and inhibits recurrence by treating duodenal and stomach ulcers.<br/>
  • Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: By lowering the production of excessive stomach acid, Omegyn-DSR Capsule helps to control symptoms and avoid problems.<br/>
  • Management of Erosive Esophagitis: Omegyn-DSR Capsule heals esophageal damage brought on by acid reflux by treating erosive esophagitis.<br/>

Directions for Use

What if I have taken an overdose of Omegyn-DSR Capsule

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Omegyn-DSR Capsule as it may cause overdose. If you suspect you have taken overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.

Drug Warnings

  • Avoid taking Omegyn-DSR Capsule if you are allergic to Omegyn-DSR Capsule or have any history of gastric cancer, liver disease, low magnesium levels, or low vitamin B1.
  • Inform your doctor before taking Omegyn-DSR Capsule if you have severe kidney, heart or liver disease, or if you are due to have Chromogranin A blood test; if you have fungal infections, heart problems or HIV infection.
  • Talk to your doctor if you experience weight loss, problems with swallowing, stomach pain, indigestion, vomit food or blood, or if you pass black stools while taking Omegyn-DSR Capsule .
  • On long-term treatment, Omegyn-DSR Capsule may cause low magnesium levels, vitamin B12 levels, and might increase the risk of bone fractures; the doctor may advise regular tests for monitoring your condition.
  • Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • Omegyn-DSR Capsule may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert.
  • Avoid caffeine-containing beverages (coffee, tea), spicy/deep-fried/processed foods, carbonated drinks, and acidic foods like citrus fruits/vegetables (tomatoes).
  • Omegyn-DSR Capsule should not be given to children as safety has not been established.
  • Avoid consuming alcohol along with Omegyn-DSR Capsule as it could lead to increased drowsiness and can elevate the production of stomach acid.
  • A prolonged intake of Omegyn-DSR Capsule is linked with a greater risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea, so if you develop diarrhoea that does not improve, immediately consult a doctor. 

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Eat smaller meals more often.
  • Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increasing acidity and heartburn.
  • Maintain a healthy weight by regular exercising.
  • Avoid lying down after eating as it causes acid reflux.
  • Avoid tight-fitting clothes as it might increase the pressure on the abdomen leading to acid reflux.
  • Practise relaxation techniques and avoid stress by doing yoga or meditation.
  • Avoid foods such as high-fat food, spicy food, chocolates, citrus fruits, pineapple, tomato, onion, garlic, tea and soda. 
  • Avoid sitting continuously as it may trigger acidity. Take a break of 5minutes every hour by doing brisk walking or stretching.

Omegyn-DSR Capsule contains domperidone which helps in treating nausea and vomiting by increasing the movements and contractions of stomach muscles.

Do not take Omegyn-DSR Capsule for longer durations unless prescribed by the doctor. Consult your doctor if your condition does not improve even after taking Omegyn-DSR Capsule for 14days.

Omegyn-DSR Capsule should not be taken along with HIV medicines such as atazanavir, ritonavir, nelfinavir, and saquinavir as Omegyn-DSR Capsule might affect their absorption. Consult your doctor before taking Omegyn-DSR Capsule with other medicines to avoid unpleasant side-effects.
