My 12-year-old son has been complaining of frequent stomach pain despite drinking clean water and eating hygienic food. Are there any safe ayurvedic or dietary remedies that may help him?

Frequent stomach pain in a 12-year-old child can have several common causes, such as gas, constipation, acidity, stress, food intolerance, or sometimes mild infections, even when food and water are clean. The first step is to focus on simple, safe dietary and lifestyle measures. Give him regular meals at fixed times and avoid long gaps between meals, as an empty stomach can also cause pain. Include easily digestible foods like rice, dal, curd, banana, idli, khichdi, and cooked vegetables, while reducing spicy, oily, junk, and packaged foods. Make sure he drinks enough water and has enough fibre in the diet (fruits like papaya and apples can help prevent constipation, which is a common hidden cause of stomach pain). Encourage him to stay active with play or light exercise, as this helps digestion. Some gentle traditional home measures like warm water, ajwain (carom seed) water in small amounts, or buttermilk may help gas-related discomfort, but they should be used cautiously and not in excess. Avoid giving strong herbal or Ayurvedic medicines without a doctor's advice, as children may react differently. If the pain is frequent, severe, wakes him at night, or is associated with weight loss, vomiting, fever, or poor appetite, it is important to consult a paediatrician to rule out underlying conditions and ensure proper treatment.
