Pepshield Suspension 200 ml is used to treat peptic ulcers or gastrointestinal ulcers. It also treats hyperacidity, heartburn, indigestion, and gastritis (inflammation of the stomach). Ulcers or sores of the stomach region are called gastric ulcers, while the duodenum ulcer is known as a duodenal ulcer.

Pepshield Suspension 200 ml is a combination of Sucralfate and Oxetacaine. Sucralfate works by forming a protective barrier or coat over the ulcer so that digestive enzymes, acid and bile salts cannot further irritate the lining of the stomach duodenum. Oxetacaine exerts a numbing effect, thereby providing relief from pain due to ulcers or acidic injury in the stomach.

Some people may experience common side effects like constipation, dizziness, sleepiness, dry mouth, blurred vision, and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention. However, if the side effects persist, please consult your doctor.

If you are known to be allergic to Pepshield Suspension 200 ml or active and inactive ingredients present on it, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Pepshield Suspension 200 ml. Pepshield Suspension 200 ml should not be given to children as safety has not been established. Aluminium-containing antacids and Pepshield Suspension 200 ml could lead to constipation and intestinal obstruction.

• Post-Surgical Gastric Protection: Pepshield Suspension 200 ml is used post-surgery to protect the stomach lining, promote healing, and prevent ulcers or complications.
• Management of Gastric Bleeding: Pepshield Suspension 200 ml helps to manage gastric bleeding by forming a protective barrier over the bleeding site, promoting healing.
• Digestive Aid: Pepshield Suspension 200 ml helps to relieve indigestion by coating and protecting the stomach lining, reducing irritation.

• Pepshield Suspension 200 ml should be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal.
• It is usually taken 4 times daily or as advised by your doctor.

• You should avoid taking Pepshield Suspension 200 ml if you are allergic to Pepshield Suspension 200 ml or other ingredients present in it.  
• Inform your doctor before taking Pepshield Suspension 200 ml if you have a history of appendicitis, blockage of the bowel, rectal bleeding, kidney problems, a low-magnesium diet, or if you have undergone recent bowel surgery.
• Caution is required before giving Pepshield Suspension 200 ml to elderly patients.
• Sucralfate in Pepshield Suspension 200 ml contains aluminium, which is normally removed by the kidneys. Therefore, older adults and people who have kidney problems may be at greater risk for developing high aluminium levels while using this drug with other products that contain aluminium (e.g. antacids).
• Do not take Pepshield Suspension 200 ml if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor.

• Avoid consuming alcohol along with Pepshield Suspension 200 ml as it could lead to increased acidity.
