About Procept 1 Capsule

Procept 1 Capsule is used to prevent rejection of a transplanted organ, such as a liver, kidney, or heart. Organ rejection occurs when a patient’s immune system recognises the donor organ as foreign and tries to eliminate it.

Procept 1 Capsule contains Tacrolimus, which works by suppressing the activity of T and B lymphocytes (cells in the immune system) that usually attack foreign invaders and defend the body against foreign cells and infection. Thus, it prevents organ rejection in transplanted patients and helps the body to accept the new organ.

Take Procept 1 Capsule as prescribed. You are advised to use Procept 1 Capsule for as long as your doctor has recommended it for you based on your medical condition. Some people may experience nausea, diarrhoea, headache, kidney problems, infection, fever, constipation or high blood pressure. Most of these side effects of Procept 1 Capsule do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Tacrolimus or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or a breastfeeding mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Procept 1 Capsule . Avoid alcohol consumption with Procept 1 Capsule . Drive only if you are alert, as Procept 1 Capsule may cause some people vision problems or nervous disturbances. Uses of Procept 1 Capsule

Procept 1 Capsule is used to treat various medical conditions. The detailed uses are as follows:

  • Prevention of Organ Transplant Rejection: Procept 1 Capsule is used to stop the body from rejecting a transplanted kidney, liver, heart, or lung. It works by lowering the activity of certain immune cells that could attack the new organ. It is usually given along with other anti-rejection medicines.
  • Other Off-Label Uses: In some cases, Procept 1 Capsule may be used for graft-versus-host disease (after bone marrow or stem cell transplant), autoimmune liver diseases (autoimmune hepatitis, lupus nephritis), autoimmune eye conditions (uveitis, scleritis), and other immune-related disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease, or myasthenia gravis, particularly when standard treatments are not effective.

Directions for Use

  • Take Procept 1 Capsule at least 1 hour before or 2 to 3 hours after a meal or as advised by your doctor.
  • Strictly follow your doctor's recommendation regarding the dosage and duration.
  • Swallow it as a whole with water.
  • Do not crush, break or chew it.

Procept 1 Capsule contains Tacrolimus, an immunosuppressant that works by inhibiting the activity of T and B lymphocytes (cells in the immune system) that usually attack foreign invaders and defend the body against foreign cells and infection. As a result, it helps the body accept the new organ and prevents organ rejection in patients who have had organ transplants.

Procept 1 Capsule may increase the risk of infections as it may weaken the immune system. Therefore, consult a doctor immediately if you have any signs of infection, such as a sore throat or fever.

Procept 1 Capsule may increase the risk of skin cancer. Therefore, avoid or limit exposure to the sun for extended periods or artificial light such as tanning beds. Wear protective clothing and use sunscreen before going out in the sun.

If you are about to receive any vaccinations, especially live vaccines such as measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), oral polio, varicella, yellow fever, intranasal influenza, BCG and TY21a typhoid vaccines, inform your doctor that you are taking Procept 1 Capsule because it may reduce the effectiveness of the vaccine and increase your risk of contracting the infection that the vaccine is meant to protect against.

Using Procept 1 Capsule with Sirolimus is not recommended in patients who have had heart or liver transplants. It is unknown if kidney transplant recipients can use it safely. Hence, please seek medical advice before combining Procept 1 Capsule with other medications.

Procept 1 Capsule may cause tremors, trembling and shaking of hands. Consult the doctor if this becomes bothersome.

Procept 1 Capsule is usually taken on an empty stomach or 2 to 3 hours after a meal. Wait at least 1 hour until the next meal.

Procept 1 Capsule is a macrolide antibiotic with immunosuppressant properties.
