About Prulooz-1 Tab
Prulooz-1 Tab is used to treat chronic idiopathic constipation (long-term constipation). Chronic idiopathic constipation is a condition where a person has infrequent, difficult, or incomplete bowel movements lasting for three months or more, without any known cause such as disease or medication.
Prulooz-1 Tab contains prucalopride, which works on the muscle walls of the gut to increase bowel movement, helping to restore normal bowel function and relieve chronic constipation.
Take Prulooz-1 Tab for as long as your doctor has prescribed it to you. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as headache, diarrhoea, nausea, and abdominal pain. Most of these side effects will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Avoid taking Prulooz-1 Tab if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18 years old, as its safety is not established; Prulooz-1 Tab may cause dizziness and tiredness, so only drive if you feel alert, and always inform your doctor about your health and any medications you are using to prevent side effects or interactions.

Prulooz-1 Tab acts on the muscle walls of the gut and increases bowel motility. Thereby, helps restore the normal functioning of the bowel and treats constipation.
Diarrhoea might occur if Prulooz-1 Tab is taken in larger doses. Drink lots of fluids and eat non-spicy food if you experience diarrhoea. Contraceptive pills might become ineffective in case of severe diarrhoea. In such conditions, use an extra method of contraception.
Do not take Prulooz-1 Tab for longer durations unless advised by the doctor, as it might lead to dependency on Prulooz-1 Tab for a bowel movement. Consult your doctor if your bowel movement is irregular even after taking Prulooz-1 Tab for four weeks.
Drink plenty of fluids and consume fibre-rich food, whole-grain bread, unprocessed bran, fruits and vegetables. Try to exercise regularly.
If you miss a dose, try to take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take the scheduled dose instead. Avoid taking the double dose as it might cause unpleasant side effects or overdose.
Prulooz-1 Tab may cause side effects such as vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, headache, tiredness and stomach cramps/pain. If these side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
Prulooz-1 Tab has been shown to act quickly but the effect varies from person to person. This is because each patient reacts differently to particular medication. Generally, Prulooz-1 Tab causes a bowel movement within 2-3 hours. However, it may take about 4-5 days to show full effect and rapid bowel movements.
