Qvasp 20 Injection 1 ml belongs to the class of antidiuretic hormones. It is used to treat diabetes insipidus and to control bleeding from esophagal varices. It can also be used to increase blood pressure in adults with vasodilatory shock who remain hypotensive despite fluids and catecholamines. Diabetes insipidus is a rare form of diabetes, causing the production of large quantities of urine.

Qvasp 20 Injection 1 ml contains Vasopressin, a human-made form of Vasopressin (antidiuretic hormone). When your body cannot produce enough Vasopressin, Qvasp 20 Injection 1 ml is used to replace it. It also helps treat diabetes insipidus (a rare form of diabetes causing the production of large quantities of urine) by increasing the amount of water reabsorption from the kidneys. Qvasp 20 Injection 1 ml helps to control bleeding from esophagal varices by increasing plasma levels of factor VIII activity in patients with bleeding disorders. Besides this, Vasopressin causes vasoconstriction by binding to V1 receptors on vascular smooth muscle. Thus, Vasopressin helps to increase blood pressure in adults with vasodilatory shock who remain hypotensive despite fluids and catecholamines.

Qvasp 20 Injection 1 ml will be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. The common side effects of Qvasp 20 Injection 1 ml include nausea, vomiting, fatigue, fast or irregular heart rate, hyponatremia (low blood sodium levels), ischemia (restriction in blood supply), and redness/pain/swelling at the injection site. • Treatment of Diabetes Insipidus: Qvasp 20 Injection 1 ml is used to manage central diabetes insipidus by reducing excessive urine output and restoring fluid balance through antidiuretic hormone activity.
• Management of Bleeding Esophageal Varices: Qvasp 20 Injection 1 ml helps control acute gastrointestinal bleeding by constricting blood vessels in the esophagus, reducing blood flow and hemorrhage.
• Support in Vasodilatory Shock: Qvasp 20 Injection 1 ml is administered to raise dangerously low blood pressure in patients with septic or vasoplegic shock when other vasopressors are ineffective.
• Adjunct in Surgical and Diagnostic Procedures:Qvasp 20 Injection 1 ml may be used to reduce abdominal bloating and improve visualization during certain procedures by decreasing intestinal blood flow and fluid secretion.

It is recommended not to use if you are allergic to vasopressin or any of the other ingredients present in Qvasp 20 Injection 1 ml or suffer from any diseases or conditions associated with your blood vessels, especially the blood vessels of your heart, suffer from a certain type of kidney disease called chronic nephritis with nitrogen retention (your doctor will advise you) or if you are intended to receive halogenated anaesthetic agents during surgical procedures.
