About RABILAST 20MG TABLET

RABILAST 20MG TABLET belongs to a group of combination medication called gastrointestinal agents used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Gastroesophageal reflux disease occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus), thereby causing hyperacidity, stomach pain and heartburn.

RABILAST 20MG TABLET is a combination of two drugs: Levosulpiride (prokinetic agent) and Rabeprazole (proton pump inhibitor). Levosulpiride works by increasing the inferior oesophageal (food pipe) sphincter pressure, thereby preventing backflow of food and acid into the mouth. Rabeprazole works by blocking the action of an enzyme called gastric proton pump, which is responsible for acid production. Together, RABILAST 20MG TABLET helps in preventing acid reflux, thereby provides relief from acidity and heartburn.

Take RABILAST 20MG TABLET 1-hour prior food. Swallow RABILAST 20MG TABLET as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or break it. You are advised to take RABILAST 20MG TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as nausea, stomach pain, diarrhoea, flatulence, constipation, headache, dizziness, weakness, sleepiness, flu-like symptoms. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Inform your doctor before taking RABILAST 20MG TABLET if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal obstruction. On long term treatment, RABILAST 20MG TABLET may cause osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, wrist, spine, and hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels). Do not take RABILAST 20MG TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. RABILAST 20MG TABLET should not be given to children as safety have not been established. RABILAST 20MG TABLET may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol and RABILAST 20MG TABLET as it could lead to increased drowsiness and elevate stomach acid production.
