About Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's

Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's belongs to a class of anti-inflammatory medicines known as ‘aminosalicylates’ and ‘disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug’ (DMARD) which treats bowel diseases (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease), skin-related problem (psoriasis), and chronic joint diseases (rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis) in the children and adults. It is not a pain killer, but an anti-inflammatory. Ulcerative colitis is an inflammatory disease of the bowels that causes irritation, inflammation, and ulcers in the lining of the large intestine (colon). Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) characterized by inflammation of digestive tracts. Psoriasis is a skin disease in which our skin cells start multiplying faster building up bumpy red patches covered with white scales. On the other hand, Rheumatoid arthritis and Ankylosing spondylitis are the most common rheumatic diseases affecting joints and spine leading to chronic inflammation and painful condition ultimately leading to disability. 

Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's works as an inflammation reducer by acting locally, inhibiting the formation of a chemical known as prostaglandins which control pain and inflammation. Together it helps in reducing the inflammation of intestine, skin, and joints. 

Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's should be taken with a glass of water and swallowed whole. Do not crush or chew the tablets. You can Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's with food as taking it with food can help to prevent an upset stomach. It is important that you drink at least 6-8 glasses of water per day to avoid kidney problems. Your doctor will advise you how often you take your tablets based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience a sore throat, a fever, unexplained bruising, ringing in your ears (tinnitus). Most of these side effects of Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, please reach out to your doctor.

Use of Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's may change the colour of your urine, contact lenses, and tears to yellow/orange and even make your skin more sensitive to the sunlight. But, this is normal, harmless, and nothing to worry about it. Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's can also lower your sperm count leading to a temporary decrease in male fertility. In this case, you can speak to your doctor. Your doctor might arrange a blood test before you start taking Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's. You can continue taking Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's to prevent flares up during the pregnancy. Besides this, your doctor may prescribe additional folic acid supplements during pregnancy because Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's may reduce the level of folic acid in your body. Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's can be safely taken while you are breastfeeding unless the baby is premature or at risk of jaundice. Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's does not work immediately and may take at least 12 weeks to show its action.

Directions for Use

Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's should not be used unless prescribed by a doctor. Always take Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's exactly as your doctor told you. Your doctor will advise you how often to take your tablets on the basis of your medical condition. Swallow Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's with a full glass of water. If required tablets can be broken in half to give a smaller dose. It should be taken with food to avoid an upset stomach. It is advised to drink plenty of water while taking Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's to prevent the formation of kidney stones.

Side Effects of Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's

Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's is well tolerated in most patients. However, in rare cases, you may have common side effects like headache, indigestion, nausea, watery diarrhoea, and mild allergic reaction like rash, fever, and itchiness. Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's may also cause a metallic taste in the mouth which can be overcome by drinking about 6-8 glasses of water per day. Sometimes there may be an increased demand for folic acid during pregnancy and Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's can reduce the level of folic acid. So, your doctor might prescribe you additional folic acid supplements during pregnancy. Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's may also cause orange/yellow discolouration of urine, tears, and contact lens but this is harmless and nothing to worry about. However, it can permanently stain your contact lens yellow. In some cases, Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's has reported lowering the sperm count lowering male infertility that can be reversed by stopping its intake. In this case, your doctor might change it to other aminosalicylates.

Drug Warning

Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's treatment is generally considered to be safe during pregnancy, but its usage in pregnant mothers should be discussed with the doctor if planning for pregnancy. This medication should be avoided in breastfeeding mothers as it passes into the milk and causes jaundice and brain problems in infants less than 2 years of age. Tell your doctor if you have an allergy to any other sulpha drugs (sulfonamide antibiotic) as it may cause serious skin allergies like urticaria and stevens johnson’s syndrome. In men, an intake of Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's may lower the sperm count, which improves after stopping this medicine. Tell your doctor if you have asthma, wheezing, fever, breathing difficulties, sudden severe skin rash, unusual bleeding, sore throat, fever, unexplained bruising, or any other symptoms of infection. Use of Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's may change the colour of your urine, contact lenses, and tears to yellow/orange and even make your skin more sensitive to the sunlight. But, this is normal, harmless, and nothing to worry about. You may low folic acid in pregnancy while taking Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's so your doctor might prescribe you iron or folic acid supplements.

    It is not recommended to consume alcohol while taking Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's to avoid unpleasant side-effects.

  • Pregnancy

    Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's should be recommended in pregnancy only if required. In case, if prescribed to a pregnant woman, it is advised to increase the folate supplementation after consulting your doctor.

  • Breast Feeding

    Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's is excreted in breastmilk and is not recommended especially if the baby is premature or is at the risk of jaundice. It might cause kernicterus (excessive levels of bilirubin in the blood) in the new-born.

  • Driving

    Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's does not affect the ability to drive. However, if you feel drowsy after taking Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's, it is advised not to drive.

  • Liver

    Consult Your Doctor

    Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's is not recommended to use in patients suffering or having a history of liver diseases. In other people, rarely it can cause hepatitis (inflammation of the liver).

  • Kidney

This condition resolves within one or two weeks after this medicine is discontinued.

No, Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's is a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug’ (DMARD) and not a painkiller. So, if you are taking a painkiller before starting this medicine, you can continue taking it along with Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's.

No, Sazo 1000 Tablet 15's should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by the doctor. If you take it in more than the recommended dose, it might cause unpleasant side-effects. If you think your symptoms are not improving, please consult your doctor.
