About Smuth Cream

Smuth Cream is used in the treatment of haemorrhoids (piles) and anal fissures. Haemorrhoids, also known as piles, are a medical condition in which veins in the anus and rectum (the last part of the large intestine that ends in the anus) swell and become painful.

Smuth Cream contains calcium dobesilate, hydrocortisone, lignocaine and zinc. It improves blood flow by reducing the thickness of blood and helps in relieving redness and swelling.

Use Smuth Cream as advised by your doctor. In some cases, you may experience itching, redness or a burning sensation at the site of application. Most of these side effects of Smuth Cream do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

How Smuth Cream Works

Smuth Cream contains calcium dobesilate (vasoprotective agent), hydrocortisone (steroid), lignocaine (local anaesthetic) and zinc (astringent). • Calcium dobesilate acts on the walls of small blood vessels and reduces their permeability and leakage. Also, it improves blood flow by reducing the thickness of blood and helps in relieving redness and swelling in the piles. • Hydrocortisone inhibits the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling caused by piles. • Lignocaine decreases pain sensation by preventing the transmission of pain signals from nerves to the brain. • Zinc acts as an astringent (shrinks pores and absorbs excess oils) and antiseptic.

Side effects of Smuth Cream 30 gm
  • Cool the burn by using cool (not cold) running water to reduce tissue damage and pain.
  • Slowly remove any tight clothing or jewellery from the burned area.
  • After cooling, apply a topical ointment like aloevera gel or a mild antibiotic cream to help with healing.
  • Use a clean bandage to protect the burn area from further irritation.
  • Take over-the-counter pain medication if needed.
  • Do not apply butter or other greasy substances, as they can trap bacteria and hinder healing.
  • If the burn covers a large area of skin or if the burn appears to be deeper than the top layer of skin, with blisters or significant redness, consult the doctor and get treated.
  • Avoid hot or cold temperatures, and shower with lukewarm water.
  • Apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 every day, even in winter.
  • Limit spicy foods and other foods that can cause redness.
