About Tazret 0.05% Gel

Tazret 0.05% Gel belongs to a group of medications called ‘retinoids’ used in the treatment of psoriasis (skin forms itchy, dry patches) and acne. Psoriasis is an autoimmune (immune system attacks healthy cells) skin disorder in which the skin becomes scaly, swollen up, and itchy. It mostly affects the knee, elbows, scalp, and trunk. It is a lifelong condition, and treatment is given to remove affected skin cells and avoid flare-ups of the disease. Acne is a skin condition that is common and occurs when hair follicles are blocked with dead skin cells and oil. 

The Tazret 0.05% Gel contains ‘Tazarotene’ which belongs to the class of retinoids derived from vitamin A. It has anti-inflammatory and antiproliferative (decreases skin cell multiplication) properties. It works by slowing down the development of the disease. It reduces the speed of skin cell growth and blocks some substances which cause inflammation (swelling and redness) on the skin. It gradually clears the affected skin. It helps to reduce the redness, scaling, and thickness of the rashes of psoriasis.

Use Tazret 0.05% Gel as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to use Tazret 0.05% Gel for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical conditions. You may experience dry skin, erythema (skin redness), itching, irritation, skin irritation, skin burn and skin peeling (loss of the upper layer of skin). Most of these side effects of Tazret 0.05% Gel do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Directions for Use

• Tazret 0.05% Gel is for external use only.• It is usually applied once daily at bedtime or as directed by your doctor.• Check the label for directions before using this medicine.• Clean and dry the affected area of the skin. Take a small pearl-sized amount of Tazret 0.05% Gel on the fingertip and apply it to the affected area. • Wash your hands before and after applying Tazret 0.05% Gel.• If Tazret 0.05% Gel accidentally comes into contact with the nose, mouth, eyes, or vagina, rinse with water thoroughly.

Tazret 0.05% Gel contains ‘Tazarotene’ that belongs to the class of ‘retinoids’. It is used to treat psoriasis. Side effects of Tazret 0.05% Gel 15 gm
  • Keep your skin clean by gently washing your face two times daily and after sweating. Choose a mild and non-abrasive cleanser.
  • Use gentle alcohol-free skin care products. Avoid products that might irritate your skin such as exfoliants, astringents and toners.
  • Acne may also occur due to oil in the hair. Thus, if you have oily hair, shampoo more frequently than you do now and keep your hair away from face.
  • Keep your hands off your face as touching face throughout the day might worsen acne. Also, do not pick, squeeze or pop acne as it will prolong the healing process and increase the risk of dark spots and scarring.
  • Avoid tanning by applying a broad spectrum sunscreen and wearing sun-protective clothing when outdoors.

What if I have taken an overdose of Tazret 0.05% Gel

Avoid exceeding the recommended dose as it might cause an overdose. Symptoms of overdose may include severe skin discomfort, increased skin dryness and peeling. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience these symptoms.

Before taking Tazret 0.05% Gel inform your doctor if you are allergic to Tazarotene or any ingredients present in it. If skin irritation, redness, burning, or stinging sensation worsens at the site of application, stop using Tazret 0.05% Gel and consult a doctor.
