About TICLOP TABLET

TICLOP TABLET belongs to a group of medicines called platelet aggregation inhibitors used to lower the risk of stroke in those who have already experienced a stroke, have shown warning symptoms of one, or are not responding well to aspirin treatment. Stroke occurs when the blood supply to the brain is interrupted or reduced.

TICLOP TABLET contains Ticlopidine, which works by preventing the platelets from forming clots. Thereby, it helps reduce the formation of clots and the risk of stroke.

In some cases, TICLOP TABLET may cause side effects such as diarrhoea, headache, stomach pain, loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting. Most of these side effects may not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to the doctor if the side effects persist or worsen.

Let the doctor know if you are allergic to any components in TICLOP TABLET. Consult the doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. TICLOP TABLET is not recommended for children as the safety and effectiveness have not been established. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side effects.

Uses of TICLOP TABLET

TICLOP TABLET is used in the prevention of Stroke. The detailed uses of TICLOP TABLET are as follows:
• Stroke prevention: TICLOP TABLET is used to reduce the risk of thrombotic strokes, especially in patients who have already experienced a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). It works by preventing blood clots from forming in the arteries that supply the brain.
• Coronary stent support: TICLOP TABLET is used in combination with aspirin for up to 30 days after the placement of a coronary artery stent. This helps prevent clot formation at the site of the stent, reducing the risk of heart attack or other complications.
• Heart attack prevention: TICLOP TABLET is used to lower the chances of a heart attack in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease by inhibiting platelet aggregation and improving blood flow.
• Unstable angina: TICLOP TABLET is used to manage unstable angina (chest pain due to reduced blood flow to the heart) by reducing the likelihood of clot formation in coronary arteries.
Directions for Use

TICLOP TABLET works by preventing the platelets from forming clots. Thereby, it helps reduce the formation of clots and the risk of stroke.

Do not discontinue TICLOP TABLET without consulting your doctor. To treat your condition effectually, continue taking TICLOP TABLET for as long as prescribed. Do not be reluctant to speak with your doctor if you feel any difficulty while taking TICLOP TABLET.

Consult the doctor if you are 65 years of age or older. Older adults should not usually take Ticlopidine as it is not as safe and effective as other medicines used to treat similar conditions.

Take antacids 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking TICLOP TABLET. However, consult the doctor before taking other medicines with TICLOP TABLET.

TICLOP TABLET is an antiplatelet medication or blood thinner used to prevent strokes and heart attacks. However, TICLOP TABLET can also cause serious bleeding. Therefore, it's important to follow your doctor's instructions closely and report if you experience any unusual bleeding or bruising (injury to the skin causing blood to leak) immediately.

TICLOP TABLET is an antiplatelet medication rather than an anticoagulant. While both types of medication work to prevent blood clots, they do so in different ways. Antiplatelet medications are often used to prevent strokes and heart attacks, whereas anticoagulants are more commonly used for conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or atrial fibrillation.

If you stop taking TICLOP TABLET without consulting your doctor, it can significantly increase your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. This is because TICLOP TABLET helps prevent blood clots, and stopping it suddenly can lead to clot formation. Therefore, complete the full course of treatment as prescribed by your doctor.

Avoid drinking alcohol while taking TICLOP TABLET. Alcohol can irritate your stomach and increase the risk of stomach ulcers, which can be more dangerous when combined with a blood thinner like TICLOP TABLET.

Yes, you will likely need to stop taking TICLOP TABLET before having surgery or dental treatment. Your doctor will usually instruct you to stop taking TICLOP TABLET 5 days before the procedure to reduce the risk of excessive bleeding. Therefore, follow your doctor's instructions closely and discuss if you have any concerns.

TICLOP TABLET typically starts to work within 30 minutes of taking it, but it may take 3-5 days to reach its full effect. Therefore, continue taking TICLOP TABLET as prescribed by your doctor.

The common side effects of TICLOP TABLET are diarrhoea, headache, stomach pain, loss of appetite (hunger), nausea, and vomiting. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
