About Valera M 500 Tablet

Valera M 500 Tablet is used as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. This medication improves glycaemic control in diabetic patients who do not react well to metformin alone. Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic or life-long condition in which blood sugar or glucose levels rise more than normal. 

Valera M 500 Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Metformin and Evogliptin. Metformin acts by decreasing liver glucose production and intestinal glucose uptake. On the other side, Evogliptin works by increasing insulin release from the pancreas and decreasing the hormones that raise blood sugar levels. This reduces fasting and post-meal sugar levels. Thereby, Valera M 500 Tablet reduces sugar levels in the body.

Take Valera M 500 Tablet as prescribed. You are advised to take Valera M 500 Tablet for as long as your doctor has advised. In some cases, Valera M 500 Tablet may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, stomach ache, respiratory infection, and indigestion. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor.

Do not take Valera M 500 Tablet if you are allergic to any of its contents. Valera M 500 Tablet may cause lactic acidosis (accumulation of lactic acid in the blood), which requires immediate medical attention. The risk increases if you are previously diagnosed with kidney or liver diseases. Do not consume alcohol (risk of lactic acidosis) or fast for prolonged periods (risk of hypoglycaemia). Also, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Hypoglycemia refers to low blood glucose levels. Valera M 500 Tablet may cause hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia can occur if you miss or delay your food, drink alcohol, do intense exercise, or take other antidiabetic medicine along with Valera M 500 Tablet .

If you feel that your blood sugar levels are dropping, eat glucose tablets or chocolate immediately. This will help to increase your sugar levels instantly. Always carry glucose tablets or sugar candies with you.

Do not discontinue taking Valera M 500 Tablet without consulting your doctor. Take Valera M 500 Tablet for as long as it has been advised by the doctor. If you experience any difficulty while taking Valera M 500 Tablet , consult a doctor.

Take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose.

The side effects of Valera M 500 Tablet include nausea, vomiting, headache, stomach pain, diarrhoea, and indigestion. If these side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Medicines used to secrete insulin or insulin injections raise the risk of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar levels) when taken with metformin. Therefore, inform your doctor if you are on insulin injections before starting Valera M 500 Tablet .

There are no human studies conducted to see the effects of Valera M 500 Tablet on fertility. However, studies on animals do not show the harmful effects of high doses of evogliptin and metformin on the fertility in both the genders in rats and mice. If you have any concerns regarding this, please discuss with your doctor.

There is no information on role of Valera M 500 Tablet in causing cancer as no human studies have been performed. However, animal studies results do not show cancer.
