About Xenspas 10mg/10mg Tablet
Xenspas 10mg/10mg Tablet belongs to a class of medications called gastrointestinal agents. It is used to treat acidity-related abdominal pain caused by conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers (stomach ulcers), and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). GERD occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus), leading to acidity and abdominal pain. Stomach ulcers occur when stomach acid damages the protective lining of the digestive tract, resulting in abdominal pain. IBS affects the large intestine, causing changes in bowel movements and abdominal pain.
Xenspas 10mg/10mg Tablet is a combination medicine that contains two active ingredients: Omeprazole (a proton pump inhibitor) and Dicyclomine (an anticholinergic/antispasmodic agent). Omeprazole helps reduce stomach acid by blocking the actions of the enzyme system (H+/K+ ATPase or gastric proton pump) in the stomach wall cells. Dicyclomine helps prevent muscle spasms in the stomach and intestines by blocking the activity of acetylcholine (a natural chemical that sends signals to nerve cells) on smooth muscles, thereby relaxing them. Together, these ingredients provide effective relief from abdominal pain caused by acid reflux.
Your doctor will advise you on the appropriate dose that suits your medical condition. Common side effects of Xenspas 10mg/10mg Tablet that you may experience include dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, weakness, dry eyes, nausea, dry mouth, headache, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, gas (flatulence), and bloating.
