Zenoxidil 2% Lotion belongs to the class of ‘vasodilators’ used to treat alopecia (hair loss). Zenoxidil 2% Lotion stimulates hair growth and slows down the process of balding. Alopecia is the thinning or loss of hair on the scalp or any part of the body.

Zenoxidil 2% Lotion contains ‘Minoxidil’, a vasodilator that widens the blood vessels. This vasodilation process helps provide oxygen, blood, and nutrients to the hair follicles, thereby preventing hair cell death and promoting new hair growth. 

Your doctor will suggest the dose and duration based on your condition. Some common side effects of Zenoxidil 2% Lotion include changes in the colour/texture of the hair, excessive hair growth, headache, itching, skin irritation, dryness, shortness of breath, scaling of the skin, and redness. These side effects usually do not require medical attention and gradually resolve during the treatment. If the side effects persist or worsen, consult a doctor.

Do not apply Zenoxidil 2% Lotion on shaved, inflamed, infected, irritated or painful scalp skin. Before using Zenoxidil 2% Lotion, let your doctor know if you have high blood pressure, sunburn, eczema, psoriasis, heart diseases like angina (chest pain), a recent heart attack, and circulation disorders. Zenoxidil 2% Lotion not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Zenoxidil 2% Lotion may cause dizziness affecting your driving ability; hence avoid driving or operating machinery until you are alert. Children and adolescents below 18 years should not use Zenoxidil 2% Lotion.

Zenoxidil 2% Lotion may cause dizziness affecting your ability to drive; hence drive or operate machinery with caution. Zenoxidil 2% Lotion is not recommended for children and adolescents below 18 years of age.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Zenoxidil 2% Lotion may interact with drugs used to treat high blood pressure (guanethidine) and drugs used to treat impotence (tadalafil).

• It is advised to maintain a healthy diet with well-balanced meals.
• Avoid overusing styling tools like blow dryers, curling rods, and chemical dying, which can cause loss of natural hair oils and cause hair fall.
• Regular oiling helps in the blood circulation of the scalp and nourishes the roots.
• Washing your hair twice a week with a good shampoo and conditioner can also improve your hair fall.
• Practice yoga and meditation to control your stress, which is the greatest enemy of hair fall.
• Get regular medical examinations to check your hormonal profile and nutritional deficiencies that cause hair fall. 

It is advised to monitor your hormonal and vitamin D profiles, which can affect your hair loss.
