Zole-F Ointment 15 gm

Zole-F Ointment 15 gm is a dermatological combination medicine used to reduce swelling/inflammation, itching and redness caused due to certain fungal skin infections. Fungal infection is a skin disease in which a fungus attacks the tissue and cause infection. Fungal infections may be contagious (spread from one person to another).

Zole-F Ointment 15 gm is a combination of two drugs, namely: Fluocinolone acetonide (corticosteroid) and Miconazole (antifungal). Fluocinolone acetonide belongs to the class of corticosteroids that works by preventing the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching and swelling. On the other hand, Miconazole belongs to the class of antifungals that works by causing holes in the fungal cell membranes thereby killing the fungi.

Zole-F Ointment 15 gm is only for external use. Use Zole-F Ointment 15 gm as prescribed. Your doctor will recommend how often you use Zole-F Ointment 15 gm based on your medical condition. Avoid contact of Zole-F Ointment 15 gm with nose, ears, mouth or eyes. In case Zole-F Ointment 15 gm comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly. Some people may experience dry skin, skin peeling, increased hair growth, pimples, patches of pale skin, itching, irritation or burning sensation at the site of application. Most of these side effects of Zole-F Ointment 15 gm do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are known to be allergic to Zole-F Ointment 15 gm or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or a nursing mother, it is advised to consult a doctor before using Zole-F Ointment 15 gm. Do not use Zole-F Ointment 15 gm in more than prescribed doses, or for a prolonged time as it may cause adverse effects such as skin thinning, visible small veins or stretch marks.  Avoid using Zole-F Ointment 15 gm for more than 5 days in children and on the face. Do not apply Zole-F Ointment 15 gm on open wounds, cuts, scrapes or damaged skin. Do not swallow Zole-F Ointment 15 gm. In case of accidental swallowing, contact nearby poison control centre or consult a doctor immediately. If you have rosacea (redness and often red, small, pus-filled bumps on the face), acne, perioral dermatitis (red, bumpy rash around the mouth), any skin infection, psoriasis, diabetes, liver or adrenal gland problems, inform your doctor before taking Zole-F Ointment 15 gm.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Zole-F Ointment 15 gm may interact with anticoagulants (warfarin, dicumarol, anisindione).

Drug-Food Interaction: Zole-F Ointment 15 gm may interact with grapefruit and grapefruit juice. Thus, avoid intake of grapefruit juice while using Zole-F Ointment 15 gm as it may lead to adverse effects. Also, inform your doctor if you are taking any herbal supplements, vitamins or OTC medicines.

Drug-Disease Interaction: If you have rosacea (redness and often red, small, pus-filled bumps on the face), acne, perioral dermatitis (red, bumpy rash around the mouth), any skin infection, psoriasis, diabetes, liver or adrenal gland problems, inform your doctor before taking Zole-F Ointment 15 gm.

• Regularly change your socks and wash your feet. Avoid shoes that make your feet sweaty and hot.
• In wet places such as changing rooms and gym showers, don’t walk on barefoot to prevent fungal infections.
• Do not scratch the affected area of skin as it can spread the infection to other body parts.
• Avoid sharing towels, combs, bedsheets, shoes or socks with others.
• Wash your bed sheets and towels regularly.

Avoid contact of Zole-F Ointment 15 gm with nose, mouth or eyes. In case Zole-F Ointment 15 gm comes in contact with these areas accidentally, rinse with water thoroughly.
