#AyurvaidWay: Pregnancy Regime Month 8 (Masanumasika Pathya)

Adopt Ayurveda’s Masanumasika Pathya in the 8th month to support your body and prepare for a smooth, natural labor.

Dr. Swetha S. Suvarna

"As you enter the 8th month of your pregnancy, Dr. Swetha Suvarna explains how, alongside your existing diet, focusing on Vihara (procedures like Ashtapana Vasti) can help prepare your body for Sukhaprasava (normal labor). These Ayurveda Panchakarma practices support the body’s natural processes, ensuring you’re well-prepared for a smooth and comfortable labor. In addition to a healthy diet, these procedures will strengthen your body and enhance your overall readiness for childbirth.
"

Eight month of pregnancy diet wise it remains more or less the same as told in the previous month like adding Ghritha or the ghee in the diet, adding the Mamsa rasa adding Sastika sali that is a typical variety of rice which can be used by the mother. But the specific procedure which I told you in terms of Vihara or in terms of procedure also there is some advice during pregnancy that is Aasthapana vasti that is the enemas that are being advised in the eight month. This typically helps in bringing about the natural labor. So these are the processes that Ayurveda has mentioned which helps the mother towards a natural labor. So in this there is a enema which is been advised to be given through the rectal route. This has to be done under the medical advice and properly  prepared medication which is been advised, there are certain drugs which has been advised, which helps in clearing the accumulated stool but also more than that does the Vatanulomana that is what is the major factor which brings in the natural labor. So from the eighth month onward the focus turns to Sukha prasva or the natural labor.
