First month of pregnancy Ayurveda advises to take Kshira that is milk,  drava ahara which is liquid food by nature and Madhura ahara that is the food which is sweetened in nature; but it doesn't mean refined sugar or addition of sugar or sweetening agents, but it is the sweet food which is naturally available like fruits or vegetables which are a little sweet in nature. And also Ayurveda gives some of the herbal supplements which can be used to process the milk for a proper nutrition of the mother at this phase. Why this kind of a light food and a liquid food is advised during the first month of pregnancy is to overcome the regurgitation or the emesis feeling which the mother has in the early pregnancy. So this food which is light and easy to digest helps to rehydrate the mother nourish the growing fetus as well as does the anabolic nourishment for the mother. So overall it is a healthy food with the proper nourishment for both mother and child.
