About Calci Capsule
Calci Capsule is primarily used to treat low blood calcium levels. It effectively treats various conditions, such as vitamin D deficiency, osteoporosis (characterised by weak bones), latent tetany (a muscle disease associated with low blood calcium levels). Calci Capsule can also be given to pregnant, nursing, and postmenopausal women to ensure that they are getting enough calcium.
Calci Capsule contains Calcitriol (Vitamin D3). Calcitriol is a synthetic version of Vitamin D3. It raises Vitamin D levels and thereby increases calcium levels in the blood. This helps in improving the absorption rate of calcium from the intestine.
In some cases, Calci Capsule can cause side effects like constipation, stomach upset, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, mood changes, weakness, tiredness, fast or pounding heartbeat, bone/muscle pain, and headache. Most of these side effects of Calci Capsule do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.
Take Calci Capsule as prescribed by your doctor. Depending on your medical condition, you are advised to take Calci Capsule for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you. Calci Capsule can be taken with or without food. Shake the bottle well before use.
Inform your physician if you are allergic to Calci Capsule . Let your doctor know if you have any liver/kidney disease, heart disease, kidney stones and hypervitaminosis D (having too much vitamin D) hypercalcaemia (high calcium levels), hypervitaminosis D (high vitamin D levels), heart, kidney, liver, or blood vessel diseases, kidney stones, or malabsorption syndrome (difficulty absorbing nutrients from food) before starting Calci Capsule . Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking Calci Capsule .

Alcohol
Safe if prescribed
Drinking alcohol can affect calcium absorption; hence, it is advised to limit the alcohol intake while using Calci Capsule .
Pregnancy
Consult your doctor
Use higher doses of Calci Capsule during pregnancy than the daily dietary allowance only when the doctor advises. Calcitriol in higher doses may harm the fetus. Your doctor will weigh the potential risks and benefits before prescribing Calci Capsule .
Breast Feeding
Consult your doctor
Consult your doctor before taking Calci Capsule if you are breastfeeding. Calci Capsule can pass into the breast milk. If Calci Capsule is used during breastfeeding, please monitor the mother and the infant's serum calcium levels.
Driving
Safe if prescribed
Calci Capsule may not affect your ability to drive.
Liver
Consult your doctor
Before taking Calci Capsule , let your doctor know if you have a pre-existing or a history of liver disease. Liver disease can alter the metabolic and therapeutic activity of certain forms of Vitamin D.
Kidney
Consult your doctor
It is advised to seek a doctor's advice before starting Calci Capsule if you have kidney diseases like kidney stones or are undergoing dialysis. Calcitriol in Calci Capsule increases inorganic phosphate levels in serum; hence, caution should be taken in patients undergoing dialysis to maintain adequate phosphorus levels and avoid ectopic calcification (calcium deposition).
Children
Safe if prescribed
Calci Capsule should be used cautiously in children and only if prescribed by a doctor.
Heart
Calci Capsule can be used in patients with heart problems, but only under medical supervision due to its potential to raise calcium levels, which can affect heart rhythm. Your doctor should monitor your calcium levels closely to avoid complications like arrhythmias or vascular calcification.
Geriatrics
Consult your doctor
Calci Capsule can be used in geriatric patients, but with caution due to increased sensitivity to calcium levels and potential for hypercalcemia. Regular monitoring by your doctor is essential to avoid complications like kidney strain or heart rhythm issues.
Calci Capsule belongs to a group of medicines called vitamin D metabolites primarily used to treat low blood calcium levels. Calci Capsule effectively treats various conditions caused by low calcium levels in the body, such as osteoporosis (weak and brittle bones), osteomalacia/rickets (weak bones), hypoparathyroidism (low levels of parathyroid hormone), and latent tetany (a muscle disease with low blood calcium levels).
Calci Capsule contains calcitriol, which works by helping the body absorb more calcium from the diet. This helps to form healthy bones and reduce bone damage.
Calci Capsule can cause kidney stones due to excess calcium deposition when used for a prolonged period. Please consult your doctor before taking Calci Capsule as a daily supplement if you have any kidney problems or a history of kidney stones.
Calci Capsule is used to increase low calcium levels in the body. Hence, it is not advised to use Calci Capsule during hypercalcemia since it causes an overdose of calcium, leading to kidney stones and other effects.
Do not use Calci Capsule if you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Calci Capsule . It is not recommended in hypercalcemia (high calcium levels), metastatic calcification (extra deposits of calcium in the body), hypervitaminosis D (high vitamin D levels), and malabsorption syndrome (difficulty absorbing nutrition from food).
