FE-Sency Suspension belongs to a class of medications called haematinics, primarily used to treat anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin). Iron or folic acid deficiency occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor food absorption, or increased folate use in the body (in pregnancy).
FE-Sency Suspension contains Elemental Iron and Folic acid. Elemental iron helps transport oxygen throughout the body and produce red blood cells. Folic acid works by boosting the production of red blood cells (RBCs) in the body. Together, FE-Sency Suspension helps treat anaemia.
FE-Sency Suspension may cause side effects like nausea, constipation, stomach upset, pyrosis (burning sensation in the chest), and black or tarry stools. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and typically resolve on their own over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

- FE-Sency Suspension can be taken on an empty stomach for better absorption. However, if it causes stomach upset, take it with food.

- For Syrup/Suspension: Take the recommended dose of FE-Sency Suspension by mouth using the measuring cup provided with the pack.
- For Dry Syrup: Gently tap the bottle a few times to loosen the powder. Add boiled and cooled water until it reaches the mark on the bottle. Folic acid requirements are usually met from the diet, but additional supplements are required in cases of deficiency. FE-Sency Suspension is advised to pregnant women who want to conceive as folate utilization is increased in pregnancy. It is generally given at least 4 weeks before pregnancy and is continued up to 3 months of pregnancy.
It is recommended not to take FE-Sency Suspension with tea, coffee, milk, or eggs, as the body may absorb less iron from supplements if they are taken together, which may reduce the effectiveness of FE-Sency Suspension.
FE-Sency Suspension is best absorbed if taken on an empty stomach. However, in some patients, it can cause an upset stomach if taken on an empty stomach. So, please follow your doctor's suggestion if you have an upset stomach.
If you are pregnant, it is necessary to maintain the right levels of folic acid to reduce the risk of neural tube defects as the baby's central nervous system develops. So, to avoid any defect, it is necessary to take it for the first three months as the neural tube is formed completely by this time.
