Feris Syrup belongs to a class of medications called haematinics used to treat anaemia (a condition in which the body lacks sufficient healthy red blood cells), which may occur due to a poor diet, poor nutrient absorption, or increased nutritional needs (such as during pregnancy).
Feris Syrup contains ferrous ascorbate and folic acid. It works by increasing the production of red blood cells (RBCs) and haemoglobin (a protein in RBCs that carries oxygen) in the body. As a result, it helps deliver sufficient oxygen to all body tissues.

Feris Syrup belongs to a class of medications called haematinics, primarily used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) that occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor absorption of food, or increased folate use in the body (in pregnancy).
It is not recommended to take Feris Syrup with coffee, tea, or dairy products at the same time, as these may reduce the absorption of Feris Syrup . However, you may drink coffee or tea 2 hours before or after taking Feris Syrup .
Feris Syrup contains Ferrous ascorbate (an iron supplement) and folic acid (a form of vitamin B9). It works by increasing the production of red blood cells (RBCS) and haemoglobin (a protein) in the body. As a result, an adequate number of RBCs is produced in the body, so that each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen.
You are not recommended to take Feris Syrup with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the concentration of Feris Syrup in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, please consult a doctor before taking Feris Syrup with phenytoin.
Feris Syrup is not recommended for hemochromatosis (excessive iron in the body) patients as it may increase the risk of adverse effects. Therefore, it is advised to inform your doctor if you have any iron overload conditions before taking Feris Syrup .
Feris Syrup provides essential iron and folic acid needed during pregnancy to prevent anaemia and support the baby’s healthy development, including reducing the risk of neural tube defects. If you are pregnant or planning pregnancy, it is essential to consult your doctor before using Feris Syrup to ensure the correct dose and safe use.
