About Folinal Tablet

Folinal Tablet is used to treat or prevent anemia (lack of blood) caused by folic acid deficiency, anaemia in pregnancy, anaemia due to damaged red blood cells, anaemia in kidney dialysis patients. Anemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to various body tissues.

Folinal Tablet contains Folic acid (a form of vitamin B9) that increases healthy red blood cell (RBC) production in the body and carries oxygen throughout the body.

You may experience certain side effects like nausea, black stool, constipation, loss of appetite, bloating or flatulence (gas) in some cases. Most of these side effects of Folinal Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Folinal Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a doctor before using Folinal Tablet . Folinal Tablet should be used with caution in children and only if recommended by a doctor. Inform your doctor if you have a stomach ulcer, vitamin B12 deficiency, any blood disorder, repeated blood transfusions, ulcerative colitis (inflammation of the colon), pernicious anemia (anemia due to lack of vitamin B12) or a folate-dependent tumor before taking Folinal Tablet .

Folinal Tablet is used in the treatment of anaemia. The detailed uses of Folinal Tablet are as follows:

  • Prevention of Neural Tube Defects: Folinal Tablet is commonly taken by pregnant women to lower the risk of neural tube defects in the developing fetus. Adequate folic acid intake is essential during pregnancy for proper fetal growth and development.

How Soon It Starts Working

  • The time required for Folinal Tablet to start to work: Folinal Tablet ideally shows its action within 15 to 30 minutes after administration. 
  • The time for which the effects of Folinal Tablet last: The effect of Folinal Tablet lasts for 24 hours.

What if you forget to take Folinal Tablet

If you miss a dose of Folinal Tablet , take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

• Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.• Keep Folinal Tablet out of reach and sight of children. • Non cold chain - To be stored in cool places at 10ºC to 25ºC or below 30ºC.

  • Inform your doctor if you have pernicious anaemia (anaemia due to lack of vitamin B12), a tumour or if you are receiving a stent in the heart or undergoing haemodialysis due to kidney failure, before taking Folinal Tablet .
  • You are recommended to maintain a time gap of a minimum of 2 hours between taking Folinal Tablet and indigestion remedies such as antacids containing magnesium or aluminium and edible clay.
  • Inform your doctor if you are allergic to any sugars as Folinal Tablet contains lactose.

Folinal Tablet may cause bloating as a mild and temporary side effect. You are advised to eat and drink slowly, eat smaller and more frequent meals, and exercise regularly to avoid bloating. However, if the condition persists or worsens, please consult a doctor.
You are not recommended to take Folinal Tablet with phenytoin as co-administration of these two medicines may reduce the levels of Folinal Tablet in blood and increase the risk of seizures (fits). However, if you are supposed to use these medicines together, please consult a doctor so that the dose may be adjusted appropriately to use safely.
Folinal Tablet should be used with caution and in doses as advised by a doctor in dialysis patients or end-stage renal disease (ESRD) or kidney failure. However, it is advised to inform your doctor if you are undergoing dialysis before taking Folinal Tablet .
