About Foltop-M Capsule
Foltop-M Capsule is used to treat nutritional deficiencies due to various complications or long-term diseases. It is used to treat and prevent folate deficiency, anaemia (lack of red blood cells), vitamin B12 deficiency and neurological diseases such as peripheral neuropathy (nerve disorder) and seizures (fits).
Foltop-M Capsule contains folic acid and methylcobalamin. Folic acid (vitamin B9) replenishes the deficient folic acid in the body. It helps in the production of healthy red blood cells and DNA. Methylcobalamin (vitamin B12) regulates body functions like cell growth, blood formation and protein synthesis. It also prevents nerve damage by forming a protective layer (myelin) around the nerves.
You should take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. The common side-effects of Foltop-M Capsule are diarrhoea, loss of appetite, upset stomach, nausea (feeling sick) and bloating. These side effects are mild and don’t require medical attention. However, inform your doctor if any of these side effects persist or get worse.
Do not take Foltop-M Capsule if you are allergic to any of its contents. Before taking Foltop-M Capsule , inform your doctor if you have diabetes, cancer, obesity, neural tube defects, kidney problems, hypokalemia (low levels of potassium), and optic nerve damage. Do not take antacids before or after 2 hours of taking Foltop-M Capsule as they may interfere with the action of Foltop-M Capsule . Do not consume excess alcohol while using Foltop-M Capsule as it may interfere with the drug absorption in the body.

Coadministration of Foltop-M Capsule and Fluorouracil may increase the effects of Fluorouracil and increase the risk of serious side effects such as bleeding problems, anaemia (lack of blood), infections, and nerve damage.
How to manage the interaction:
Although there is a possible interaction between Foltop-M Capsule and Fluorouracil, you can take these medicines together if prescribed by your doctor. However, if you experience diarrhoea, paleness of skin, severe nausea and vomiting, over-tiredness, dizziness, fainting, blood in the stools, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, body pains, flu-like symptoms, skin reactions, mouth ulcers or sores, and/or numbness, burning or tingling in your hands and feet, contact your doctor.
Coadministration of Foltop-M Capsule and Carbamazepine may reduce the blood levels of Foltop-M Capsule.
How to manage the interaction:
Although there is a possible interaction between Foltop-M Capsule and Carbamazepine, you can take these medicines together if prescribed by your doctor. However, if your condition changes or you experience loss of seizure control, contact your doctor.
Co-administration of Foltop-M Capsule with Capecitabine may increase the risk of serious side effects such as bleeding problems, anemia, infections, and nerve damage.
How to manage the interaction:
Although there is a possible interaction between Foltop-M Capsule and Capecitabine, you can use these medicines together if prescribed by the doctor. However, if you experience paleness of skin, diarrhea, severe nausea and vomiting, over-tiredness, dizziness, fainting, blood in the stools, unusual bleeding or bruising, fever, chills, body aches, flu-like symptoms, skin reactions, mouth ulcers or sores, and/or numbness, burning or tingling sensation in the hands and feet, contact a doctor. Trimethoprim may decrease the blood levels and effects of Foltop-M Capsule.
