About Hbcount Suspension
Hbcount Suspension belongs to a class of medications called haematinics, primarily used to treat anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin). Iron or folic acid deficiency occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor food absorption, or increased folate use in the body (in pregnancy).
Hbcount Suspension contains Elemental Iron and Folic acid. Elemental iron helps transport oxygen throughout the body and produce red blood cells. Folic acid works by boosting the production of red blood cells (RBCs) in the body. Together, Hbcount Suspension helps treat anaemia.
Hbcount Suspension may cause side effects like nausea, constipation, stomach upset, pyrosis (burning sensation in the chest), and black or tarry stools. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and typically resolve on their own over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
Do not take Hbcount Suspension if you are allergic to iron, folic acid, or any of the ingredients of Hbcount Suspension . Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. This supplement should be given to a child under 12 years of age only if advised by the doctor.

Hbcount Suspension belongs to a class of medications called 'haematinics,' primarily used to treat anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin).
Hbcount Suspension is a combination of two drugs, namely: Elemental Iron and Folic acid. Elemental iron helps with the transportation of oxygen throughout the body and the production of red blood cells. Folic acid works by boosting the production of red blood cells (RBCs) in the body. Together, Hbcount Suspension helps treat anaemia.
Folic acid requirements are usually met from the diet, but additional supplements are required in cases of deficiency. Hbcount Suspension is advised to pregnant women who want to conceive as folate utilization is increased in pregnancy. It is generally given at least 4 weeks before pregnancy and is continued up to 3 months of pregnancy.
It is recommended not to take Hbcount Suspension with tea, coffee, milk, or eggs, as the body may absorb less iron from supplements if they are taken together, which may reduce the effectiveness of Hbcount Suspension .
Hbcount Suspension is best absorbed if taken on an empty stomach. However, in some patients, it can cause an upset stomach if taken on an empty stomach. So, please follow your doctor's suggestion if you have an upset stomach.
If you are pregnant, it is necessary to maintain the right levels of folic acid to reduce the risk of neural tube defects as the baby's central nervous system develops. So, to avoid any defect, it is necessary to take it for the first three months as the neural tube is formed completely by this time.
Foods rich in folic acid and iron include leafy green vegetables like spinach, beans, nuts, peas, seafood, and citrus fruits like oranges.
Hbcount Suspension may cause side effects such as nausea, constipation, stomach upset, pyrosis (burning sensation in the chest), and black or tarry stools. Most of these side effects of Hbcount Suspension do not require medical attention and typically resolve on their own over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
Medicines used to treat indigestion, such as antacids, those used to treat bone problems, like bisphosphonates, and those used to treat bacterial infections, like Chloramphenicol, should be taken with a minimum gap of two hours. If you are taking medicines like Sulfasalazine (used to treat ulcers), Phenytoin (used to treat epilepsy), and Methotrexate (used to treat cancer), consult your doctor.
In case of folic acid deficiency, it is possible to get anaemia, ulcers in the mouth, diarrhoea and flatulence. In severe cases, it can result in infertility.
