About Healodress Ointment
Healodress Ointment belongs to the class of antiseptic and antibiotic drugs, primarily used to treat minor wounds and infections. It effectively treats lacerations (deep cuts in the skin), abrasions (where the top layer of skin is scraped off), diabetic foot ulcers, bed sores, impetigo (red sores on the face), boils or carbuncles, and radiation/chemotherapy ulcers. Healodress Ointment is also used in infection control during post-surgical dressing, post-cosmetic and plastic surgery and post-episiotomy (surgical cut during childbirth) dressing.
Healodress Ointment consists of three medicines, namely: Povidone Iodine, Tinidazole, and Sucralfate. Povidone Iodine is an ‘antiseptic’ that is used for skin disinfection before and after surgery. It works by inhibiting the growth of infection-causing microbes. Tinidazole belongs to the ‘antibiotic’ class of drugs. It is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent used to treat bacterial and parasitic infections. It works by damaging the DNA and stopping the growth of bacteria and parasites. Sucralfate belongs to the class of ‘protectants.’ It is used to treat various wounds, ulcers and inflammation. It works by forming a protective layer over the surface of the ulcer and promotes the healing.
Healodress Ointment is for external use only. The common side effects of Healodress Ointment include dry skin, itchiness, burning, redness and irritation at the application site. These side effects typically resolve gradually during treatment and do not require medical attention. However, consult the doctor if any of these side effects worsen or persist.
