About Livogen Suspension
Livogen Suspension is used to treat anaemia (lack of blood) that occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor absorption of food, or increased folate use in the body (in pregnancy). Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to various tissues throughout the body.
Livogen Suspension is a combination of two drugs: Ferrous ascorbate and folic acid. Livogen Suspension works by increasing the production of red blood cells (RBCs) and haemoglobin (a protein) in the body. As a result, an adequate number of RBCs is produced in the body so that each tissue gets a sufficient supply of oxygen.
Not everyone who is taking Livogen Suspension will get these side effects. In some cases, you may experience vomiting, nausea, stomach upset or dark coloured stool. Most of these side effects of Livogen Suspension do not require medical attention and typically resolve on their own over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.
Take Livogen Suspension orally 1 hour before food or 2 hours after food or as directed by your doctor, typically once daily in the morning. The dosage of the medicine is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. It is advised to complete your treatment course for better results.
If you are allergic to Livogen Suspension or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before using Livogen Suspension . Livogen Suspension should be used with caution in children and only if recommended by a doctor. Livogen Suspension may contain lactose. Therefore, inform your doctor if you have an allergy to any sugars before taking Livogen Suspension . Also, let your doctor know if you have a history of stomach ulcers, vitamin B12 deficiency, any blood disorders, repeated blood transfusions, ulcerative colitis (inflammation of the colon), pernicious anaemia (anaemia due to a lack of vitamin B12), or folate-dependent tumours.
