About Mbscab Lotion

Mbscab Lotion is a topical medication prescribed to treat skin infestations caused by parasites, specifically scabies and head lice. Its primary medical purpose is to eliminate these ectoparasites and clean the affected skin surface to prevent secondary bacterial infections. By targeting both the parasites and the bacteria that can result from constant scratching, it helps restore skin health.

This medication is typically used as a single application, though your doctor may advise a second application after 7 to 10 days if live mites or lice are still present. You should apply it only to clean, dry skin or hair as directed, and avoid taking hot baths immediately before use. Washing all clothing, towels, and bedsheets in hot water during treatment is essential to ensure the parasites do not return.

While using Mbscab Lotion , you may experience mild and temporary skin reactions such as redness, itching, or a burning sensation. If you experience severe skin irritation, a widespread rash, or serious issues like seizures, stop using the product immediately and contact your doctor.

Do not use this medicine if you have a history of seizure disorders, severe skin breakdown, or if you are applying it to a premature infant or newborn. Talk to your doctor before starting this treatment if you have a history of eczema, psoriasis, or any condition that severely compromises your skin barrier, as this can increase the risk of the medication absorbing too deeply into your body.

You should inform your doctor about all other skin products you are currently using, as combining them with this medication may increase skin irritation or alter absorption. Avoid consuming alcohol during treatment, as it can lower your seizure threshold and increase the risk of serious side effects. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or managing treatment for an elderly individual, consult your doctor or pharmacist before application.Scabies and head lice are common, treatable conditions that can affect anyone. With proper treatment and hygiene measures, most people recover successfully.  In India, lindane (gamma benzene hexachloride) should only be used under medical supervision. Based on safety concerns and CDSCO advisories, it is generally reserved for patients who cannot use or have not responded to safer first-line treatments. Always use this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor

Uses of Mbscab Lotion

Your doctor may prescribe this medicine to treat several conditions, including:

  • Scabies: Mbscab Lotion helps clear scabies infestations by killing the microscopic mites (Sarcoptes scabiei) that burrow into the skin, thereby relieving the intense itching and skin rashes they cause.
  • Head Lice: Mbscab Lotion treats head lice infestations by targeting the active crawling lice, and its activity against eggs (nits) is limited, so your doctor may recommend a second treatment if needed on the scalp, stopping the cycle of infestation.

Key Benefits

This medicine helps manage scabies and head lice while offering the following benefits:

  • Provides Fast Itch Relief: Mbscab Lotion provides prompt relief from the intense, uncomfortable itching associated with parasitic skin infections.
  • Eliminates Parasites: By quickly eliminating the mites and lice, it prevents these parasites from reproducing and spreading further across your body or to other people in your household.
  • Dual-Action Formula: Another major benefit is its dual-action protection. In addition to killing parasites, it cleanses the skin surface, which reduces the risk of secondary bacterial infections that commonly develop when damaged skin is constantly scratched.

Directions for Use

  • Follow your doctor's instructions on the dosage and timing of this medication.
  • Apply a thin layer of the lotion on the affected areas. Typically, it is left on for 8-12 hours before washing off with warm water.
  • Avoid contact with the nose, mouth or eyes. In case of accidental contact with these areas, rinse with water thoroughly. Wash your hands after using Mbscab Lotion to prevent the spread of infection.

How Mbscab Lotion Works

Mbscab Lotion relies on two active components working together to clear skin infestations. The first component, cetrimide, is an antiseptic and surfactant(a cleansing agent that helps break down dirt and microbes on the skin surface). It works by disrupting the cell membranes of bacteria and other microbes on the skin surface, cleansing the affected area and lowering the risk of infection in scratched skin. Mbscab Lotion also contains gamma benzene hexachloride, an ectoparasiticide(a medicine that kills external parasites like lice and mites) . This substance is directly absorbed through the outer shell of parasites like mites and lice. Once inside, it targets their nervous system, which causes rapid and ultimate death of both the parasites. Lindane has limited activity against lice eggs (nits). Therefore, your doctor may recommend a second treatment after 7–10 days if live lice are still present. Do not repeat treatment unless advised by your doctor.

FAQs

If you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, use Mbscab Lotion only if your doctor determines that the expected benefits outweigh the potential risks. Because lindane may be absorbed through the skin, it should be used with caution during pregnancy. If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before use, as special precautions may be necessary.
Yes. Lindane can rarely cause seizures, particularly if it is used incorrectly, applied too often, left on longer than recommended, or used by people with a history of seizures or certain neurological conditions. Do not use Mbscab Lotion if you have a seizure disorder unless your doctor specifically advises otherwise. Follow the prescribed directions carefully and seek immediate medical attention if a seizure occurs.
In infants and young children with scabies, the doctor may advise applying the medicine to the scalp, face, neck, and ears while avoiding the eyes and mouth. This should only be done under medical supervision.
You should leave the lotion on your skin for the exact duration recommended by your doctor, which is typically 8 to 12 hours for scabies. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure of your specific timeline.
Yes, scabies spreads very easily through close physical contact. It is highly recommended that all household members receive treatment at the same time to prevent reinfestation. Talk to your doctor for guidance.
Rinse your eyes immediately with large amounts of cool, clean water for several minutes. If irritation, pain, or vision changes persist, seek medical attention right away.
No, you should not take a hot bath right before application, as hot water opens your skin pores and increases blood flow, which can cause too much medication to be absorbed into your system. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist for proper skin preparation tips.
Often, a single proper application is sufficient. However, if live lice are still visible after 7 to 10 days, a second application may be needed. Talk to your doctor before repeating the treatment.
Itching may continue for 2–4 weeks after successful treatment, even if the mites or lice have been eliminated. This is a normal reaction and does not always mean the treatment has failed. However, if you notice new burrows, new rashes, or live lice, it may indicate reinfestation or that the treatment was not fully effective. Contact your doctor if your symptoms worsen, new lesions appear, or itching persists beyond 2–4 weeks, as you may need further evaluation or additional treatment.
