About Nasivion 0.025% Paediatric Nasal Drops 10 ml

Nasivion 0.025% Paediatric Nasal Drops 10 ml belongs to the class of medications called alpha1A adrenoceptor agonists. The usage/indication of oxymetazoline hydrochloride depends on the dosage form. For instance, nasal spray solution is indicated for the treatment of nasal congestion. Oxymetazoline hydrochloride cream is used to treat ongoing facial redness caused by rosacea (a skin disease that causes redness and pimples on the face). In ophthalmic form, it is used to treat ptosis (drooping) of the eyelid, eye redness, and discomfort.

Nasivion 0.025% Paediatric Nasal Drops 10 ml contains ‘oxymetazoline hydrochloride’ that narrows the blood vessels and reduces blood flow to the swollen tissue in the nose, eyelid or skin. This effect helps in reducing inflammation and alleviating the symptoms.

Use Nasivion 0.025% Paediatric Nasal Drops 10 ml as prescribed. Common side-effects of Nasivion 0.025% Paediatric Nasal Drops 10 ml are irritation or burning sensation at the site of application, drowsiness, dizziness, headache and slow/fast heartbeat. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and resolve gradually over time. If any of the side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor immediately.

Do not take Nasivion 0.025% Paediatric Nasal Drops 10 ml if you are allergic to ‘oxymetazoline hydrochloride’ or any ingredients present in it. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have heart disease, brain problems, high or low blood pressure, diabetes, Sjogren's syndrome (an immune system disorder) or eye problems (glaucoma). Nasivion 0.025% Paediatric Nasal Drops 10 ml should not be used for more than seven days.

Directions for Use

Nasal spray: If you are using the nasal spray for the first time or have not used the medicine for 5 days or longer, you have to prime the spray. It means you have to spray out some of the medicine before use, by squeezing the bottle. Shake the nasal spray well before each use. Blow your nose to clear the nostrils. Then, keep your head upright while spraying the medicine into each nostril. After using, wipe the tip of the bottle and close the cap tightly. Do not use more frequently or exceed 2 applications in 24 hours, unless you are advised by your doctor.Eye drops: Wash your hands thoroughly with water before and after use. Tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid to create a small sac. Using the dropper squeeze out a drop into the eye. Close your eyes for about 2 to 3 minutes. Do not wipe or rinse the dropper tip after use.Topical cream: Clean and dry the affected area. Then, apply a thin layer of the medicine to the affected area. Wash your hands before and after use. Use the medicine as recommended by your doctor. Do not use more than the recommended dose. Do not use other creams or moisturizers at the same time. Do not apply this medicine on broken skin or open wounds. Make sure this medicine does not enter the eyes. If the medication gets accidentally into the eyes, rinse with water thoroughly.

  • In nasal congestion, take warm fluids to help clear-up mucus (nasal fluid) in the nose. Also, use a humidifier at home and rinse the inside of the nose with saline solution.
  • For ptosis of the eyelid, do eyelid exercises.  Raise your eyebrows by placing a finger underneath and holding them up for several seconds at a time while trying to close them.
  • For rosacea, know and avoid triggers that cause the condition. Eat fibre-rich foods, probiotics and avoid spicy, processed foods. Limit alcohol intake. Do not go into sunlight directly. Use sunscreen.
