Polypex Tablet is a vitamin supplement which is used to treat nutritional deficiencies, iron deficiency anaemia, iron deficiency due to low intake of iron, and iron/nutritional deficiency that occurs during pregnancy and lactation. About Polypex Tablet

Polypex Tablet belongs to a class of 'haematinics,' primarily used to treat iron deficiency and anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin). Iron deficiency occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor absorption of food or increased folate use in the body (during pregnancy). Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells for carrying the adequate oxygen required to various body tissues.

Polypex Tablet contains 'Elemental Iron,' an essential body mineral. It is a nutritional supplement required by the red blood cells to carry oxygen to other body cells and tissues. By combining with a protein in the blood called haemoglobin, iron helps carry adequate oxygen to various body parts. Polypex Tablet also has immunity-enhancing, anti-carcinogenic (preventing cancer), and cognition-enhancing properties.

Your doctor will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. In some cases, it may cause side effects like constipation, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, dark stools, loss of appetite, and upset stomach. Most of these side effects of Polypex Tablet do not require any medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Polypex Tablet or its inactive components, please inform your doctor. Brief your medical history to the doctor if you have any heart/kidney/liver diseases, iron overload disorders like hemochromatosis/hemosiderosis, and intestinal problems (ulcer, colitis) before starting Polypex Tablet . Uses of Polypex Tablet

Treatment of Iron deficiency and anaemia

Directions for Use

Tablet/Capsule: Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. You can take it with or without food at regular intervals, as suggested by the doctor. Do not crush, chew or break it. Oral Liquid/Syrup/Suspension: Shake the bottle well before use. Take the suggested dose by mouth using the measuring cup/dosing syringe/dropper provided by the pack.

What if I have taken an overdose of Polypex Tablet

Never take more than the suggested dose. Overdose of Polypex Tablet may cause black, and possibly bloody stools, diarrhea, liver damage (may occur several days after the ingestion), metallic taste in the mouth, nausea, and vomiting blood. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of Polypex Tablet , seek emergency medical help.

Co-administration of Polypex Tablet with Mycophenolic acid decreases levels of Mycophenolate by reducing its absorption.

How to manage the interaction:
There could be a possible interaction between Mycophenolic acid and Polypex Tablet, but they can be taken together if a doctor has prescribed them. However, if you experience upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation sleep problems, fatigue, headache, painful urination, high blood pressure, or swelling of the lower legs, ankles, or feet, joint pain, cough, or shortness of breath consult a doctor. It is recommended not to take Polypex Tablet with tea, coffee, milk, and eggs since they might interfere with iron absorption from Polypex Tablet .
