AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE is a combination of blood pressure-lowering medicines primarily used to treat high blood pressure. Hypertension or high blood pressure is a chronic condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery wall is high. As a result, it leads to heart diseases, irregular heartbeat, and other complications. AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE lowers the blood pressure and helps in reducing the risk of having a stroke, heart attack, other heart problems, or kidney problems in the future.
AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE contains Amlodipine and Bisoprolol fumarate. Amlodipine acts by relaxing the blood vessels. This reduces the workload on the heart and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Bisoprolol fumarate helps in relaxing the blood vessels by blocking the action of certain natural substances in the body. Together, AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE helps treat high blood pressure.
You are advised to take AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE for as long as your doctor has prescribed, to treat your condition effectively. In some cases, AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE may cause side effects like headache, dizziness, palpitations, abdominal pain, ankle swelling, and oedema. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Avoid taking AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE if you are allergic to any of the components. Consult your doctor before starting AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE is not recommended for children below 18years as the safety and effectiveness have not been established. AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE may cause dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid alcohol consumption along with AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE as it may potentiate the blood pressure-lowering effect of AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE.
High Blood Pressure
AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE is a combination of two medicines namely: Amlodipine and Bisoprolol fumarate, which together helps in lowering raised blood pressure effectively. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that acts by relaxing the blood vessels. This reduces the workload on the heart and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. Bisoprolol fumarate (beta-blocker) helps in relaxing the blood vessels by blocking the action of certain natural substances in the body. Together, AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE lowers the blood pressure and helps in reducing the risk of having a stroke, heart attack, other heart problems, or kidney problems in the future.
Avoid taking AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE if you are allergic to any of the components. Inform your doctor if you have heart problems, diabetes, Prinzmetal angina, psoriasis, pheochromocytoma, very slow heartbeat, serious heart condition, heart blockage, kidney or liver problems, muscle disorder (myasthenia gravis, rhabdomyolysis), breathing problem (COPD, bronchitis, emphysema), low blood pressure (hypotension), depression, previous heart failure, thyroid hormone disorder, adrenal gland cancer, or problems with circulation (Raynaud’s syndrome). Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Drug-Drug Interaction: AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE may interact with other beta-blockers (acebutolol, atenolol, bisoprolol, carteolol, esmolol, metoprolol, nadolol, nebivolol or sotalol), anti-hypertensive drugs (aliskiren, amiloride, enalapril, captopril, quinapril, diltiazem), asthma medications (theophylline, aminophylline), potassium-rich supplements or any other pain killers (ibuprofen). If you are using these medicines, inform your doctor before taking AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE.
Drug-Food Interaction: AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE is known to interact with grapefruit and protein-enriched foods. Using AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE together with ayurvedic, homoeopathy, Unani, herbal supplements, or any other OTC items may decrease the effects of AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE. Hence, it is better to maintain at least 2 hours gap between the administration of AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE and these products.
Drug-Disease Interaction: Inform your doctor if you have diabetes, thyroid disease, asthma, cardiogenic shock (when the heart fails to pump required blood to the body), heart valve problem (stenosis), low blood pressure (hypotension), coronary heart disease, liver disease or heart failure.
You are recommended not to consume alcohol along with AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE as it may potentiate the blood pressure-lowering effect of AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE.
Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy. Your doctor will prescribed only if the benefits outweigh the risks.
AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE is not recommended in breastfeeding mothers.
AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE may cause dizziness and drowsiness. Do not drive or operate machinery unless you are alert.
AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of liver diseases/conditions. The dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor.
AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of kidney diseases/conditions. The dose may have to be adjusted by your doctor.
AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE is not recommended in children as the safety and efficacy of AMLODIPINE+BISOPROLOL FUMARATE have not yet been established.
Hypertension: It is a chronic condition when blood pressure is too high. This condition can lead to hardened arteries (blood vessels), decreasing the blood and oxygen flow to the heart. Blood pressure is the measurement of the force that our heart uses to pump blood to all parts of the body. Raised blood pressure can cause chest pain (angina) and heart attack (when blood supply to the heart is blocked). Additionally, high blood pressure also causes brain damage (stroke) and kidney failure. High blood pressure can be diagnosed with the help of a blood pressure monitor or sphygmomanometer. Ideal blood pressure should be between 90/60 mm of Hg and 120/80 mm of Hg.
