Betnovate S Ointment is used to reduce swelling, itching, redness, and dead skin cells caused by specific skin problems such as psoriasis (scales and itchy, dry patches) and eczema (itchy, cracked, swollen or rough skin). It contains Betamethasone and Salicylic acid, which work together by reducing the amount of inflammatory chemicals your body makes, thereby stopping the body's natural immune response, which helps to control swelling and inflammation. Also, it works by breaking down a protein known as keratin (that forms part of skin structure), removing dead skin cells, and softening skin. Some people may experience side effects such as skin rash, inflammation (swelling and redness) of hair follicles, blistering, itching, swelling, stinging or burning sensation of at the site of application. Avoid smoking or going near naked flames as the fabric (bedding, clothing, dressings) that is in contact with this medicine catches fire and burns quickly.

I've had localised psoriasis in my feet and palms for the past two months. using a maxepa cap and halobet cream for a month. but experiencing no respite. Please provide a suggestion.

It can take weeks or months for psoriasis on the palms and feet to go away. Strong steroid creams can thin the skin, thus while Halobet Cream may assist with redness and scaling, it should not be used excessively for extended periods of time without a dermatologist's supervision. Wear comfortable shoes, avoid harsh soaps and scratching, keep your skin properly moisturised, and try to minimise stress, all of which can exacerbate psoriasis. Please see your dermatologist again if you haven't improved after a month. You could require an alternative course of treatment, such as stronger moisturisers, vitamin D creams, phototherapy, or other medications.

After a dermatologist ruled out eczema and recommended using Propy Genta NF cream, the disease persisted after a month. I am looking forward to your insightful advice.

A fungal infection, allergies, psoriasis, or another skin condition could be the cause if the skin issue has not improved even after taking Propy Genta-NF Cream for a month. Certain lotions that contain steroids and antibiotics can temporarily alleviate symptoms, but prolonged usage may exacerbate fungal infections. Use gentle washes, keep the area tidy, refrain from scratching, and steer clear of self-changing products. To determine the precise cause and appropriate treatment, it is best to see a trained dermatologist again for a re-examination and potentially testing like skin scraping or allergy assessment.

Avoid using potent steroid creams on your own for extended periods of time without consulting a doctor. I have type 2 diabetes and am overweight. I am experiencing difficulty during intimate activity because my foreskin is very tight and does not retract at all. I also notice a white layer forming on the foreskin if it remains dry for a few hours, and the tip appears thickened. What could be causing this?

This is most likely due to phimosis, where the foreskin becomes tight and cannot be retracted, often worsened by diabetes. The white layer may suggest a fungal or yeast infection, which is more common when blood sugar is not well controlled. Repeated infection and inflammation can cause the foreskin to lose elasticity and become tight and thick. Please consult a doctor for a proper examination, blood sugar management, and appropriate treatment, which may include antifungal medication or minor procedures if needed.

I am having severe psoriasis on my head, arms, and fingers, and I am using some creams, but not getting enough relief. What should I do?
