These blood pressure and respiratory medicines do not interfere with vaccines. In fact, keeping her health stable by taking her daily doses as prescribed is highly recommended before getting vaccinated, and there is no need to delay her appointment. For your peace of mind, you can inform the vaccination team of her current medications before she receives the shot.

If I am taking Eliquis 5 mg twice a day for a blood clot in my left leg, along with Losar 50 mg and Amlopres 5 mg daily for high blood pressure, do I need to stop taking Eliquis before or after getting the Covishield vaccine, and if so, why and for how many days?

You do not need to stop taking Eliquis (apixaban), Losar (losartan), or Amlopres (amlodipine) before or after getting your Covishield vaccine. It is highly important to continue your blood thinner consistently to prevent blood clots. Stopping it abruptly can be risky. Because Eliquis is an anticoagulant, you may have a slightly higher risk of bruising or mild bleeding at the injection site. Simply inform the vaccine provider beforehand; they will use a fine needle and apply firm pressure to the area for at least two to five minutes after the shot to minimize bruising. Continue managing your health safely!
