Dersol 12% Ointment is used for peeling and shedding the outer layer of the skin in the condition of acne (pimple) and psoriasis. It contains Salicylic acid, which reduces inflammation (swelling and redness) and unplugs blocked skin pores to allow pimples to shrink. It increases the turnover rate of upper skin cells, which eventually helps in peeling and shedding off the dead skin, thereby treating comedones (skin-coloured, small bumps due to acne). It may cause common side effects such as dry skin, erythema (skin redness), burning sensation, skin irritation and skin rash. Before using this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.
Consult your doctor if you experience skin redness, itching, or irritation after taking medication.
Apply cool compresses or calamine lotion to the affected skin area to reduce irritation.
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water to help alleviate symptoms and keep your skin soothing.
Monitor your skin condition closely and promptly report any changes, worsening symptoms, or concerns to your healthcare provider.

I have keratosis pilaris and want to know which treatment might help reduce the rough bumps and improve my skin texture. Are there any creams or skin care methods that usually work for this condition?

Keratosis pilaris is a common skin condition that causes small, rough bumps when dead skin builds up around hair follicles. These bumps often show up on the arms, thighs, cheeks, or buttocks and can feel dry or uneven. While the condition is harmless, it usually takes time and steady skin care to see improvement. Creams with urea, lactic acid, salicylic acid, or glycolic acid can help soften the skin and slowly reduce the bumps. Using moisturiser after bathing can also improve dryness and texture. Gentle exfoliation may smooth the skin, but avoid scrubbing too hard or using very hot water, as this can make irritation and redness worse. Mild cleansers are better than strong soaps for sensitive or rough skin. Most people see gradual improvement after several weeks of regular care. If the bumps become painful, itchy, swollen, or keep getting worse even with regular treatment and moisturising, consult a doctor.
