Ascoril LD Syrup is used to treat dry cough. It contains Levodropropizine and Chlorpheniramine, which work by blocking the transmission of nerve signals from the cough centre in the brain to the muscles that produce cough. Some people may experience dry mouth, drowsiness, vomiting, blurred vision, constipation, dizziness, or tiredness. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Ascoril LD Syrup may have interaction with anti-allergic drugs (diphenhydramine, cetirizine), cough suppressants (dextromethorphan), antidepressants (duloxetine, sertraline), narcotic analgesics (hydrocodone) and antianxiety drugs (alprazolam).

Drug-Food Interaction: Ascoril LD Syrup may interact with alcohol. Therefore, avoid consumption of alcohol with Ascoril LD Syrup as it may increase the risk of adverse effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, impairment in thinking, or difficulty in concentrating.

Drug-Disease Interaction: If you have high blood pressure, fits, glaucoma, hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), chronic bronchitis, asthma, cough with mucus, cough caused by smoking, chronic bronchitis or emphysema (a lung condition causing shortness of breath), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), blockage in stomach or intestines, phenylketonuria (a birth defect that causes accumulation of amino acid, phenylalanine in the body), enlarged prostate, pheochromocytoma (tumour in the adrenal glands), kidney, liver, heart or urinary problems, inform your doctor before taking Ascoril LD Syrup .

How does the drug interact with Ascoril LD Syrup 100 ml:
Taking Ascoril LD Syrup 100 ml together with Potassium citrate (in tablet or capsule form) can increase the risk of stomach ulcers and bleeding.

How to manage the interaction:
Taking Ascoril LD Syrup 100 ml with Potassium citrate is not recommended as it can lead to an interaction, it can be taken if prescribed by the doctor. However, if you experience severe stomach pain, bloating, lightheadedness or dizziness, nausea, vomiting (especially with blood), decreased hunger, or dark, tarry stools, consult a doctor immediately. Do not discontinue any medications without a doctor's advice.

Co-administration of Ascoril LD Syrup 100 ml with Sodium oxybate can possibly result in an interaction, but it can be taken if your doctor has advised it. However, if you experience- drowsiness, dizziness, lightheadedness, confusion, low blood pressure, breathing difficulty, and impairment in thinking, judgment, and motor coordination, consult a doctor. You should take care when getting up from a sitting or lying posture, and avoid operating machinery, driving, or participating in any potentially dangerous activity requiring mental attention and motor coordination for at least six hours after taking sodium oxybate. Do not discontinue using any medications without a doctor's advice.
