ZyrCold Syrup is used to treat bronchitis, cough, and allergies. It contains Cetirizine and Ambroxol, which block the effects of a chemical messenger known as histamine, which is naturally involved in allergic reactions. Also, it thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. In some cases, you may experience tiredness, sleepiness, dry mouth, etc. Before taking this medicine, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any of its components or if you are pregnant/breastfeeding, and about all the medications you are taking and pre-existing medical conditions.

My HB A1C is 6.1, and I have diabetes. I'm now taking the following medication for a severe cough and throat infection. 1. Claribed 500 mg 1-0-1 Taxim o 200 mg 1-0-1 Levolin 2 mg 1-1-1 Zyrcold 0-1-0. My blood sugar has risen to 300 and higher since using these medications. Humalog mix 25 10 unit -0 - 18 unit is my medication. My typical range is 90 to 110 when fasting and 145 to 165 following meals. I appreciate your advice.

Your sudden rise in blood sugar (300+) is likely due to infection stress and some medicines like Levolin and Zyrcold Syrup, which can increase glucose levels. Antibiotics like Claribed 500 and Taxim O 200 usually don?t raise sugar directly, but the infection itself does. Monitor blood sugar closely and consult your doctor urgently, as your insulin (Humalog Mix 25) dose may need to be temporarily adjusted until the infection resolves.

If your cough improved with Zyrcold Syrup, it suggests an underlying allergy. Long-term control focuses on avoiding triggers (dust, smoke, cold air), using regular anti-allergic medicines like antihistamines or nasal sprays if needed. I have a severe cough and cold at night and cannot sleep because of it. What should I do?

A severe cough and cold at night can be due to throat or airway irritation, post-nasal drip or infection. Try warm fluids, steam inhalation and keep your head slightly elevated while sleeping to reduce symptoms. Avoid cold exposure, dust and late heavy meals that may worsen cough. If sleep is disturbed or symptoms persist, consult a doctor for proper evaluation and treatment.

I have had an adenoid problem in my nose, fluid in my ear, and a cough for the last two weeks, and I am using Duonase spray and taking Cetirizine and Ambroxol syrup. Will this treatment cure my cold and cough?

Adenoid swelling and ear fluid can cause an ongoing cough and nasal blockage, especially after a cold. Duonase and cetirizine help reduce allergy and inflammation, while ambroxol loosens mucus, but recovery may take time. If symptoms persist beyond a few weeks or hearing is affected, further evaluation is needed. Follow up with your doctor to assess response and adjust treatment if required.
