Albucid 10% Eye Drops belongs to the class of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial eye infections. Bacterial conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid. 

Albucid 10% Eye Drops contains Sulfacetamide­ which works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins that are necessary for bacteria to grow and multiply. Thereby, Albucid 10% Eye Drops stops the growth of bacteria causing an eye infection.

Use Albucid 10% Eye Drops as prescribed by your doctor. Albucid 10% Eye Drops is for ophthalmic  (eye) use only. You are advised to use Albucid 10% Eye Drops for as long as your doctor has prescribed based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience mild burning, irritation, itching, stinging or redness of the eyes. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor. 

If you are allergic to Sulfacetamide, any other medicines, foods, dyes or preservatives, please inform your doctor. Albucid 10% Eye Drops should be used for children only if advised by your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult your doctor before using Albucid 10% Eye Drops. Drive only if your vision is clear as eye ointment may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after using it. If you are about to undergo surgery using general anaesthesia, please inform your doctor before using Albucid 10% Eye Drops.

Albucid 10% Eye Drops is used to treat Bacterial eye infections. The detailed uses of Albucid 10% Eye Drops are as follows:

• Treat bacterial eye infections: Albucid 10% Eye Drops is primarily used to treat infections such as conjunctivitis and trachoma by stopping the growth of bacteria on the surface of the eye.
• Prevent infection after eye injuries or surgery: Albucid 10% Eye Drops helps reduce the risk of bacterial contamination and promotes healing following trauma or surgical procedures.
• Manage superficial ocular conditions: Albucid 10% Eye Drops is effective against conditions like blepharitis and keratitis caused by susceptible microorganisms.
• Control symptoms of eye irritation: Albucid 10% Eye Drops helps relieve redness, swelling, and discomfort associated with bacterial inflammation of the eye.
• Reduce risk of secondary infections: By eliminating harmful bacteria, Albucid 10% Eye Drops helps prevent the development of secondary infections during treatment of primary eye conditions.

• Albucid 10% Eye Drops is typically used 1-2 times a day, or as prescribed by your healthcare provider, based on the severity of the condition.
• Before using eye drops, wash your hands thoroughly. Then, tilt your head back, gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pocket, and drop the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye. Close your eye and gently press the corner of your eye near the nose for 1-2 minutes to prevent the drops from draining out.
• Avoid touching the dropper to any surface, including your eyes, to prevent contamination.

If you are about to undergo surgery using general anaesthesia, please inform your doctor before using Albucid 10% Eye Drops. If your condition does not improve after using Albucid 10% Eye Drops for 2 to 3 days, consult your doctor. You are recommended to maintain a time gap of a minimum of 5 minutes between using Albucid 10% Eye Drops and other eye medicines. Do not touch the tip of the container to the eye, eyelids or surrounding areas as it may contaminate Albucid 10% Eye Drops and cause eye infections. Do not use eye drops if the seal around the cap is broken, if the solution is discoloured (dark brown), if the bottle or packaging shows tampering signs, or if the bottle has passed the expiry date. Discard it after 4 weeks of opening the bottle.
