About Aromasin 25 mg Tablet

Aromasin 25 mg Tablet belongs to the group of anti-cancer medicines called aromatase inhibitors used to treat breast cancer in women who have gone through menopause (cessation of menses periods). Breast cancer is a type of cancer that develops in breast cells stimulated by the female sex hormone known as estrogen.

Aromasin 25 mg Tablet works by blocking the aromatase enzyme, which produces the estrogen hormone. Thus, it lowers the amount of estrogen (the natural female hormone) produced in the body. Cancer cells require estrogen for their growth. Hence, blocking the aromatase enzyme prevents the growth of cancer cells. Together, Aromasin 25 mg Tablet helps prevent or stop the spread of tumours (cancer cells) to other body parts.

Take Aromasin 25 mg Tablet as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take Aromasin 25 mg Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical conditions. In some cases, you may experience common side effects such as insomnia (difficulty sleeping), nausea, headache, musculoskeletal (bone, muscle, or joint) pain, increased sweating, and fatigue. Most of these side effects of Aromasin 25 mg Tablet do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Side effects of Aromasin 25 mg Tablet
  • Always wear loose-fitting clothes suitable for your activity during hot flashes.
  • Include a diet containing fruits like watermelon, grapes, bananas and green leafy vegetables.
  • Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
  • Stay calm and lower your anxiety by practising yoga or meditation.
  • Consume more protein-rich foods and healthy fats like beans, avocados, cheese, nuts and lean meats to minimize appetite.
  • Prefer foods high in fiber to help feel full for a long time.
  • If you have decreased appetite, eat only when you are hungry.
  • Eat several small meals or snacks all day.
  • Try to take only small sips of fluids while eating.
  • Get plenty of rest and avoid activities that tire you out to allow your body fight the infection.
  • Drink lots of fluids to help loosen mucus in the lungs.
  • Use over-the-counter medications like paracetamol or ibuprofen to manage fever.
  • Use a humidifier as it helps soothe irritated airways.
  • Do not make changes to your medication schedule or take over-the-counter medicines without consulting your doctor.
  • Eat more plant based foods like vegetables, fruits and whole grains.
  • Reduce intake of foods containing high fat such as dairy, oil and red meat.
  • Exercise for at least 30 minutes 5 days a week.
  • Aim for weight loss and maintain healthy weight.
  • Quit smoking.
  • Control blood sugar and blood pressure.
  • If you notice any changes in your blood test results, especially if you are taking medicines that can affect clotting time, consult your doctor so that they may adjust the dose or recommend alternative medicine with lower risk.
  • Be aware of possible signs like nosebleeds, easy bruising, or heavy menstrual bleeding.
  • Consult your doctor to determine potential causes of increased PTT (Partial thromboplastin time), such as clotting factor deficiencies or medication effects, and recommend appropriate treatment.
  • Your doctor may adjust medications if they are causing increased PTT.
  • Eat vitamin K-rich foods like leafy greens and essential nutrients to support normal blood clotting.
  • Take precautions like wearing protective gear to prevent injuries.
  • Inform your doctor if you experience severe bleeding, such as heavy periods or bleeding that doesn’t stop after 10–15 minutes of pressure.
  • Be alert for symptoms of bleeding, such as easy bruising, extended bleeding from cuts, gum or nosebleeds, heavy menstrual periods, or blood in your stool or urine.
  • Follow your doctor's advice regarding blood-thinning medications.
  • Limit foods that are high in vitamin K, such as kale, spinach, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts, if your doctor advises.
  • Avoid activities that may lead to injury or increase bleeding risks.
  • If you suspect severe bleeding, seek medical help right away.
  • Follow regular check-ups to assess your blood clotting status and any necessary modifications to your treatment.

What if I have taken an overdose of Aromasin 25 mg Tablet

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Aromasin 25 mg Tablet as it may cause overdose. If you suspect you have taken overdose, please consult a doctor immediately.
