About Azion-XL Suspension

Azion-XL Suspension is used to treat several bacterial infections of the upper/lower respiratory tract, middle ear, skin and soft tissue. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grow in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. 

Azion-XL Suspension contains Azithromycin, which works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins that are necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers. Thus, it prevents the growth of bacteria.

Not every child who is taking Azion-XL Suspension will get these side effects. Azion-XL Suspension may cause common side effects such as diarrhoea, vomiting, headache, nausea or stomach pain. Most of these side effects of Azion-XL Suspension do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

Give Azion-XL Suspension to your child as prescribed by the doctor. It can be taken with or without food but should be consumed at a fixed time for the best results. The Azion-XL Suspension should not be given in a dose exceeding the recommended amount to avoid unpleasant side effects.

If your child is allergic to Azion-XL Suspension or other medicines, please tell the doctor. Azion-XL Suspension should be used only in doses prescribed by a doctor for children. What if I have taken an overdose of Azion-XL Suspension

What if you forget to take Azion-XL Suspension

If you forgot to give a dose of Azion-XL Suspension to your child, give it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow the regular schedule. Do not give a double dose to make up for the missed one.

Storage

• Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight.• Keep Azion-XL Suspension out of reach and sight of children. • Non cold chain - To be stored in cool places at 10ºC to 25ºC or below 30ºC.

Drug Warnings

  • Avoid taking Azion-XL Suspension if you are allergic to it or other macrolide antibiotics.
  • Tell your doctor if you have any history of liver problems or jaundice.
  • In rare cases, the use of Azion-XL Suspension can cause diarrhoea, so if you have watery or bloody diarrhoea, stop taking Azion-XL Suspension and call your doctor. However, do not take any anti-diarrheal medication until your doctor advises you to do so.
  • Azion-XL Suspension is not recommended for child with pneumonia (a lung disease) who are judged to be inappropriate for oral therapy due to moderate to severe illness or risk factors.
  • It is always important to check the expiry date of the medicine. Discard the medicine if it reaches the expiry date.
