Dothidep 50 mg Tablet 10's belongs to the class of tricyclic antidepressants used to treat depression. It is primarily used to treat depression that is unresponsive to other antidepressants or any other alternative treatment. It is also used to treat disorders related to anxiety. Depression is a mood disorder that affects day to day life of a person. A person may have symptoms such as feeling sad or feeling lost and might have mood swings. Drug Warnings

Dothidep 50 mg Tablet 10's should be given with extreme caution in patients having epilepsy (brain disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures), impaired liver or kidney function, diabetes, decreased level of sodium in the blood, tendency to develop bleedings or bruises easily, patients receiving electroconvulsive treatment, having coronary heart disease, suffering or have suffered from heart problems or have recently had a heart attack, having a low resting heart-rate, having prolonged severe diarrhoea and vomiting (being sick) or using diuretics (water tablets), experiencing a fast or irregular heartbeat, fainting, collapse or dizziness on standing up, which may indicate abnormal functioning of the heart rate and having or previously had eye problems, such as certain kinds of glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye).

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interactions: This medicine may interact with other anti-depressants (phenelzine, iproniazid, isocarboxazid, nialamide, imipramine, desipramine, tranylcypromine and moclobemide), medicines used to treat Parkinson's disease (selegiline). Taking the above medicines with Dothidep 50 mg Tablet 10's can increase the risk of side effects. It can also have an interaction with an antibiotic (linezolid), a medicine used in the treatment of the manic-depressive disorder (lithium), a medicine used to treat migraines (sumatriptan), a medicine used for severe pain such (as tramadol), medicines used for stomach ulcers (cimetidine, lansoprazole and omeprazole), a medicine used to treat fungal infections (fluconazole), a medicine used to reduce the risk of stroke (ticlopidine), a herbal remedy used for depression (Hypericum perforatum), blood-thinning medicines (warfarin, dipyridamole and phenprocoumon), antimalarials (mefloquine), medicines used for heart diseases (flecainide and propafenone). Dothidep 50 mg Tablet 10's may also interact with medicines that decrease blood levels of potassium or magnesium, as these increase the risk of life-threatening heart rhythm disorder.
