About Eclo-3 Ointment

Eclo-3 Ointment is a dermatological medication primarily used to treat eczema and psoriasis. Eczema is a skin condition associated with inflamed, itchy, cracked, and rough skin patches. Psoriasis is a skin disease in which skin cells multiply rapidly to form bumpy (uneven) red patches covered with white scales.

Eclo-3 Ointment contains Clobetasol propionate and Salicylic acid. Clobetasol propionate blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen, and itchy. Salicylic acid causes peeling of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin.

Common side effects of Eclo-3 Ointment include itching, dryness, and a burning sensation at the application site. These side effects are temporary and gradually resolve over time. If the side effects are persistent, please consult your doctor.

Let your doctor know if you are sensitive to Eclo-3 Ointment or any other medications. Please do not cover the affected areas with a dressing or bandage unless advised. Eclo-3 Ointment is not recommended for use in the treatment of diaper rash. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult a doctor before starting Eclo-3 Ointment.

How Eclo-3 Ointment Works

Eclo-3 Ointment contains Clobetasol propionate (corticosteroid) and Salicylic acid (peeling agent). • Clobetasol propionate is a corticosteroid that blocks the production of prostaglandins (chemical messengers) that make the affected area red, swollen, and itchy. • Salicylic acid is a keratolytic medicine (that softens, separates, and causes peeling of the cornified epithelium or horny layer of skin). It increases the skin's moisture and dissolves the substance that causes skin cells to stick together.

Storage

Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight

What if I have taken an overdose of Eclo-3 Ointment

Do not apply Eclo-3 Ointment in large amounts or use it for longer than recommended, as it does not provide quick or better results but increases the risk of side effects.

  • Avoid applying Eclo-3 Ointment on sunburns, lesions, blisters, and open wounds.
  • Topical usage of corticosteroids like clobetasol propionate in pregnant women should be used with caution under a doctor's supervision.

FAQs

Eclo-3 Ointment is a dermatological medication primarily used to treat eczema and psoriasis. Eczema is a skin condition associated with inflamed, itchy, cracked, and rough skin patches.

Eclo-3 Ointment works by increasing the skin's moisture and relieving inflammation and itchiness caused by various skin infections, such as eczema and psoriasis.

It is advised to use Eclo-3 Ointment only for the prescribed period since long term usage of Eclo-3 Ointment on the skin may cause increased hair growth and weaken and thinning of the skin. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of Eclo-3 Ointment based on the severity of your infection.

Eclo-3 Ointment is not recommended for use in diaper rash. Also, inform your doctor if you have other skin infections, blood circulation problems, and chickenpox before starting Eclo-3 Ointment.

Please do not stop using Eclo-3 Ointment on your own, even if the symptoms are relieved. Your symptoms may improve before the skin infection is completely cured. Continue using Eclo-3 Ointment until your course, as advised by the doctor, is finished.

Eclo-3 Ointment is for topical (for skin) use only. Do not put a bandage or dressing on the affected area while treating with Eclo-3 Ointment unless the doctor advises doing so. Do not apply Eclo-3 Ointment on mucous membranes, lesions, or large areas of skin. If the medicine gets into your eyes, nose or mouth, rinse with cold water.

Apply a small amount of Eclo-3 Ointment to the affected areas of the skin using clean, dry hands. You may also use a clean cotton ball to apply Eclo-3 Ointment. Gently massage the medicine into the skin. Be sure to wash your hands before and after application, unless you are treating your hands. Eclo-3 Ointment is only for topical use.

No, Eclo-3 Ointment will not be more effective if used more than prescribed. Overuse can cause an excessive amount of Eclo-3 Ointment to be absorbed into the body, potentially leading to skin thinning or other serious side effects. If your symptoms worsen, it is important to consult your doctor.

Store Eclo-3 Ointment in a cool place below 30°C protected from light. Do not freeze. Keep it out of reach of children.

Eclo-3 Ointment causes side effects such as itching, dryness, and a burning sensation at the application site. These do not require any medical treatment as they will gradually reduce over time. Please consult a doctor if these side effects persist for longer than a few days.
