Herperax 5% Ointment 15 gm belongs to the class of 'antivirals' that is generally used to treat recurrent herpes labialis (cold sores) in immunocompetent adults and adolescents aged 12 and up. Recurrent herpes simplex labialis, often known as oral herpes, is a disorder caused by the herpes simplex virus that affects the lips. It's a common and contagious illness that spreads quickly.

Herperax 5% Ointment 15 gm contains acyclovir, it exerts antiviral activity against herpes simplex viruses (HSV) by interfering with DNA synthesis and limiting viral replication.

Herperax 5% Ointment 15 gm is solely for the topical treatment of recurrent HSV lesions on the lips and face. It should be used as prescribed by your doctor. Dry lips, desquamation (scale off or peel off), dryness of skin, cracked lips, scorching skin, pruritus, flakiness of skin, and stinging on the skin were the most prevalent adverse effects to Herperax 5% Ointment 15 gm at the site of topical administration. Herperax 5% Ointment 15 gm is also useful in preventing the reactivation of the cytomegalovirus infection in seropositive (showing a positive result of a blood test for a particular antibody) patients following bone marrow transplantation.
